Apparently, it's been announced. Do you think it'll be half as disturbing as the first original?

I would say it is unlikely to happen, and if it does will not include any of the elements that made the first film stand out.

the first link is for a movie to be released in 2009 by the same director.
the second link is to the cheap rip-off
I personally think that cannibalism movies need to make a comeback. I loved Feed. It was only a matter of time til they did, really. I mean look at the zombie comeback. And you know theres thousands of scripts sitting around that people wrote during the cannibal influx in the 80s that are just waiting to get dusted off, re-written, and made in to horrible, horrible movies that i will absolutely love.

Mr.Deodato thought that it might be to raw for American audiances so he canned it... until he saw Hostel.

this movie isn't happening in any real way yet. There are no producers involved, no money involved and no distributer involved. Let alone no script, no cast and no start date.
and 2009?
no one plans a release that far in advance unless it's a Lord of the Rings-sized epic.
Which would be awesome! But I'll believe it when I see it

I'm sure Peter Jackson's been working on the script for five or six years under all our noses. If I wrote at that man's pace I'd surely develop a brain tumor.
