So I'm thinking of taking the plunge into the land of MMORPGs again. I haven't played ANY at all since Everquest way back when. Do any of you guys play 'em? If so, tell me about what you think are the best/worst out there right now. I've pretty much got my choices narrowed down to WoW, FFXI, and Guild Wars. I'm just hoping I can find one with a good RP server and maybe not too damn many 1337 types.
Thanks!

I played DAoC and toyed with EQ (I played DAoC for years), but I recently delved back into the MMO world with WoW after a friend (who useta play DAoC) recommended it highly.
I must say, it is way more fun than either of the ones I had played in the past, though some of that may be b/c I get to play with one of my best friends who lives thousands of miles away and whom I never get to see in real life.
I recommend WoW with a slight warning (nothing new for an EQ veteran): be ready to have to force yourself to do anything else.

I can't disagree with this. in fact, the similarities between WoW and hard drugs go far beyond its addictive-ness (is that a word?).

I've been monitoring Trials of Ascension for awhile now. It's got great innovative ideas which really want to make me play an MMO, but I'm not sure if it's ever going to make it out.
Last MMO I played was Knight Online, which kind of sucked.

I've pretty much decided on WoW for now. You get a free month with the game, so we'll see how it turns out. Oh, and don't worry MD... I won't get too addicted. I couldn't bear going without annoying everyone here with my banality.
Thanks for the input, everyone.

I actually checked on ToA after I wrote that post. Apparently it's not going to happen:mad: That really sucks; the game (on paper anyway) was groundbreaking. Not only could you play shit like a Minotaur or a Dragon, but it was the closest thing to a sandbox environment I'd ever read about. Damn shame.
