I looked at my local Wal-Mart without any luck. Any online retailers you'd recommend?

I've ordered a ton of stuff from DeepDiscountDVD, and my complaint is that I can never tell whether a DVD is Tartan or not until it arrives.

From the DVDs I've ordered, they usually have a picture of the case. It's small, but you can make out the Tartan logo. I'm positive that they don't sell bootlegs, so you could just look up all Tartan releases, and find out what they have that way.

Yeah, I need to start doing that anyway. Most of what I've been about to order on eBay seems to have a Tartan release too, so I'm not going to order any more from eBay until I check.

Hastings -- Sometimes you luck out and find them on the "buy one used and get another for a penny" rack. I've found a few like that.

I have been buying several Tartan Asia Extreme discs off of eBay. Quite a bit cheaper than I seem to be able to find them for elsewhere, and no problems so far.

Tartan is a video release company that specializes in modern extreme Asian films. You're not going to find Dr. Lamb on one of their DVDs, but movies like Battle Royale are right up their ally. I bought their Oldboy release; not shaby.
Here's a list of the Asian films they've released to date: (from imdb)
Acacia
Agitator
Audition
Bad Guy
Bangkok Dangerous
Bangkok Haunted
Battle Royale (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Battle_Royale)

I think it must be a Scotish company, not just because it is called Tartan, but since I have been living in Scotland I see them everywhere. And I had never heard of them before.

Tartan Films, established in 1982[1], is a United Kingdom-based film distributor. It also owns the United States-based Tartan U.S.A. and Tartan Video. They are known for distributing Asian films, especially those in the horror and thriller genre, under their banner Tartan Asia Extreme and also, more recently, they have gained a reputation for releasing horror movies of other origin under their new brand, Tartan Terror. Such films include Battle Royale, the Whispering Corridors trilogy, A Tale of Two Sisters, Triad Election (aka Election 2 ), and Oldboy.
