"Rockstar"
[Verse 1]
The younger man sat in his father's van
He'd tap his hands with dreams of a band
Play guitar, wish music could get him far
Writing songs, about to blow a sitting star
Move to LA, heart crushed to pulp like jelly
He wrote a song down, it's titled "For Kelly"
Got his friends and pulled out his pens
Completes the track and then he sends
A band demo with hopes of sitting in limos
With perfect tempos, sends the band memos
Sitting still unsigned, seems his will had died
Lost his thoughts when a man took his rhymes
He smashed his ax and got all packed
Went back to Jersey without his soul intact
All he wants is a contract, but he ran back
to his home and then he turned to crack
[Verse 2]
Three years later, without a place to live
Mind playing riffs, knew he was wasting gifts
He saw his friends, confessed what he was on
Returned to LA with all of his demons gone
Wrote a new song, titled it "You Know I'm Wrong"
Traded in the demo so he could fill the bong
He tore five strings while still the sixth one rings
He again gave up hopes to play guitar and sing
Head began to twirl with all these different things
Gave up on his prayer and had clipped his wings
Fought his drummer and lived out of his truck
All out of luck, obvious he doesn't give a fuck
Sheds a tear each night, but he still would write
Had a notebook full but he kept it out of the light
Talent was a secret, imagination is all we get
He'd write the song, toss it, never again read it
[Verse 3]
He met his band and they gave him a grand
Said he'd again be in front of a mic stand
"For Kelly" got a label and an album deal
Awaited a response not knowing how he'd feel
No longer had to steal now his dreams were real
Smiled, he'd have a house, no weapons concealed
Went to a studio and made the disc, "Do We Know?"
Combination of grunge, funk, metal, even groovy flow
First single reached #1, album opened thunderous
Two million first week, album became wondrous
He was an icon, became caught in a cyclone
He went to bed and he became God by dawn
After feeling stressed, went to Canada to rest
He was diamond there, thrill took away his breath
Going crazy on fame, he stood out in the rain
Already high off what could destroy his brain
He could not contain his feelings he felt the pain
If it wasn't for a girl he just met he would go insane
Started off as steady, but shortly lead to a wedding
They went off to an island setting, and then forgetting
All of the attention of his second album's release
Followers made pain increase, he just wanted peace
He began to snort, had plenty of money to support
Stated the next day that he overdosed on a news report.
