That pun , was for you, urge. :)

Okay, here is my issue:
Almost a year ago, i was pushing 250. I had gotten too comfortable in my crappy job, Bree was pregnant, and i had spent 3 months looking for work after getting laid off from my last job. I had been cgowing down almost constantly, and many of you are well aware of my love affair with fast food.

So i was getting fat, complete with a double chin (which i never had before in my life) and sporty new stretch marks on my belly. Ick.

Once i had gotten canned, a combination of having no desire to eat, along with a more active attempt to lose weight and doing more physical activity, i dropped to a lowest point of 216.

As of last night, i was 226. Shit.

I dont really have a question, i know what i have to do, but the prospect of being good all the time scares the hell out of me. I have developed a compulsive need to eat and drink (alchohol, of course....) that has become overwhelming in the past couple of weeks. And its the holidays...

Bree and i agreed to help each other work out and try to lose 20 lbs by february. I think lunch today willbe my last hurrah. Im gonna get a couple of double cheeseburgers and savor them.

i'm up and down all the time ..
the fucked knee doesnt help.
my wofe is a junk food addict otherwise i wouldnt have it in the house ..
i dont enjoy eating out anymore either.
i'm overweight but not obese .. i'd like to be 40 pounds lighter .. that would make me pretty skinny but if i want to pursue competative volleyball well into my 50's - i'll need to be skinny.

its a goddamn struggle though .. we eat waaaay more than we need to sustain us each day .. north americans eat like pigs - we're trained to do it .

Same here. I am short so any lil weight gain shows up. Right now I would like to lose 10-15lbs. I was a fitness trainer at the ymca here for about 4 years. I worked out 6 days a week, boxed and ate really well. Now I have a job where I sit a majority of the time and I don't work out anymore. It sucks. Luckily I still eat healthy but as I said I would love to lose a few lbs.

I find it ironic that on top of my window for HDC there's all adds for weight loss lol.

Contextual ads by google, they read the page content and render related ads.

its funny, both of the women that have sounded off so far said they were short. My first girlfriend was 4' 9" (i was 5' 11" at the time), and was , well, rolly-polly. I had a hting for short women as a result, for quite a while, but the part that stuck for me was that she had curves.

I had always liked a rounder form, but since my first actual physical experiences with the female form were soft and round (not to mention big boobed... BIG, and not just for a short girl.) I imprinted on that.

espite her claims of being a beast, my wife is most definately not fat, but she has the curves (she is 5' 8", which is a much more comfortable match :D)

Anyway, it just got me thinking. Bree doesnt have a problem with me gaining weight, but i am getting neurotic about it, and it stresses her out because she was a "fat kid" most of her childhood. So if i think IM fat, then she starts worrying...

a little extra weight isnt a big deal when you're young - but as you get older its not good at all. and old habits die hard as you age.

i think the goal should always be to get to a decent weight before you're 50 if you want to continue to enjoy quality of life into your golden years.

my wife put it into perspective for me: It doesnt matter if I think she is attractive with the extra weight, SHE doesnt think she is attractive, and self image is all that matters.

Buy a jump rope. Sounds silly but 5 minutes of jumping rope is good cardio and can help you thin down a lot even if you don't have time for a proper workout.

That is VERY true. When I was boxing jumping rope alone made me lose tons of weight and got my legs into great shape!!

I usually go back to my old wrestling routine when i try to get into shape, with some things thrown in for back and lats. i like th emuscular arm/V look. When i was younger, i aspired to be built like brandon lee.

I'm with you here, Vod.

I used to be the skinny guy. Crazy metabolism allowed me to eat anything and never exercize. But after 35, the metabolism slowed tremendously and my 6'1" 185 lb frame inflated to 205.

Not fat, just uncomfortable.

Now I do 50 crunches and 20 push-ups every morning - takes 5-10 minutes. It's not like I'm in world's greatest shape, but I'm back to 190 and I feel better.

Good luck...getting old sucks

Its funny.. i dont think i will ever be under 200 again. I have packed on a lot of muscle in the past few years as well. i realized i was getting leaner, but had a lot more definition than i had had. I think a lot of it had to do with the weeks and weeks of heavy lifting i did renovating our house.

I would have to work up to 50 crunches... i do 2 right now and i want to puke.

I've weighed pretty much the same weight since I can remember. (Except when i went down the whole anorexia road...but that's another story) I'd say I'm at a healthy weight, but being a teenage girl, it's hard to be perfectly okay with my body.

Well, except for the anorexia comment, you sound much more at peace with yourself than most girl your age.

I think the thing that helps me the most right now (besides exercise) is I don't allow myself to eat anything 6hrs before I go to bed. Just doing that has helped me stay even. I do have to exercise a lot, though, because I drink a shitload of beer. I never drive, I just walk or ride my bike everywhere.

Wow 6 hrs? Thats a long time before bed. Are you starving when you wake up? I think this is a problem of mine - I eat pretty close to bed time. I am usually not hungary when I get home from work , and I have a few whiskeys or beer which puts the hunger off even longer so by like 8-9pm we are having dinner and off to bed.:( I should try making dinner right when I get home and save the whiskeys for after.

See, I'm home by 5, so I usually go ahead and eat dinner. I'm in bed by 11:30pm on weekdays. The most important thing that I don't eat before bed is any breads or pastas. If I'm absolutely famished, I try to eat fruit.

@Nikki, yeah, I'm usually pretty hingry when I wake up, but breakfast is my biggest meal of the day. So I get up, fix my food & eat. Then I shower & dress and I'm off to work. The walk/bikeride helps get my metabolism going, and then I have a lot of energy.

Bah.... I try to spend time with my daughter before she goes to bed for the night (7  ), and a real meal takes 30 min+ to make... we will probably try low fat and exercise

All the afore mentioned is making me feel quite.......erh..... normal

I'm 6' 1"
Weigh 185 lbs or approx 13.5 stone in real money, have weighed this for the last 4 or 5 years.

Typical weekday.
I get home at around 3:30 pm, dinner/tea at 5, supper anytime from 8 to 10. Go to bed around midnight, up at 6, then a light breakfast, - that's me to dinner/tea.

Weekend
up at 9, brekkie soon after, don't eat lunch, next meal around 4 or 5, then as for weekdays.

Drink very little (alcohol, I mean or coffee), eat fruit a lot.

:p Braggart. By the time we finish all of our chores and such at night, it is usually after 9. Then we try to actually have a married life of some sort, or just read, play video games, ect. bedtime is usually 10:30 on (usually "on")...

I done most of my drinking as a student, i don't drink at home (celebrated the new year with a coke!), rarely go to the pub (I drive a lot and public transport is almost non-existent, can never figure out why pubs/clubs have car-parks)

I maybe only drink 2 or 3 times a year.(2-3 pints)

Can't understand why anybody could become an alcoholic*, I would get bored with it all.

*My brother had a few problems with the booze, that's probably why.

But of course, Flayed mate.

We should make it into a booze game. That would make it alot of fun, i think.

Like, if you land on someone elses street you have to take a zip. And if you land on someones street with a house on it you have to empty whatever it is you´re drinking of.

Any other/better ideas?

My friend's boyfriend was huge and he lost weight by playing dance dance revolution and cutting out butter(and margarine of course) and also soda (don't know if you drink soda but coke zero (0 calories) tastes better than real coke). I think the reason most people's diets don't work is because they try to cut out everything and they eventually crack. So try a little dance dance and no butter before you go crazy huh? :D

Oh and the secret to drinking as much as you want and not gaining weight is to always drink so much that you throw up, you'll actually lose weight! Ever notice how good you look in the morning after throwing up all night? :p

I would say drink slower so that you maybe have one less drink that you usually would.
