WEIRD list. How is The Thing so low, and Scream 2 so high (or even on there for that matter)? There's some misguided fans out there I tell ya. Thanks for posting it though Massacre. I'm sure this'll start quite a debate.

i dont think any of the screams should be on the list then add maybe the final detinations maybe between place 100 and 55
then the top 5 would be

I was hoping more people would have commented on that strange list of flicks.

that's a shitty list. Where're all the foreign horror movies? I counted 2. At least Argento was represented, but what about Kiyoshi Kurosawa? Or Takashi Miike?

the thing is a great movie and yet its so low:confused:

and i agree the scream movies are not particulary good

12-27-2003, 04:56 PM
wow i was super surprised that most if not all of the f13 movies were up ther and that f13 was as high as it was and f13 VIII for that matter. and some of the movies should not have been on that list like tremors.

i agree that the f13 movies should be up their but im a keen fan of them:rolleyes:

Man...that's a pretty crappy list.

I was pretty upset when I saw that The Hills Have Eyes was #79...

I expected that to be in the top twenty.

avenger00soul
12-27-2003, 07:09 PM
I agree with you Sham. I agree with Crazy Clown too. Why in the hell are Friday the 13th Parts 6-8 on the list?

Sam The Egg
12-27-2003, 07:18 PM
I'm just mostly mad that the list is very generic and doesn't have a lot of the movies that SHOULD be on a top 100 list. It just goes for the 'Hey, think a lot of people like the F13 movies?' 'Yeah, they're okay' 'Alright, I'll add a couple' method of adding movies, and almost completely ignores all movies not released in the United States. I'm not asking for them to add all kinds of foreign movies, but some of the better Mexican, German (Old school German, Cabinet of Dr. Caligary like), and Japanese horror movies should be somewhat represented. Italian is on there, sure, but from what I know of them, it was probably to apease the gore-freaks. And adding a movie like Scream takes it solely at face-value and ignores that it's more satire of horror than horror. Last House On The Left was great, so I'm glad it's on there.
It's just a very poor list, and I'd be surprised if much thought went into it.

avenger00soul

I couldn't agree with you more Egg, but the thing is, it's a fan list. That piece of shit list was voted on by horror fans!!! What backward-ass fucks were taking the poll??? I say we do our own list.

crazy clown
12-27-2003, 07:24 PM
when i saw the new blood was #33 i just completely lost all interest in the whole list (didn't have much faith in it when i saw tremors up there but this was the clencher) but the #1 and #2 were good.

Sam The Egg
12-27-2003, 07:29 PM
I'd say the list was done not by casual fans nor by the hardcore fans, but by the lesser of the middle grounds; the casual fan who thinks they're a hardcore fan by watching horror movies from the 70's as long as they're easy to find. Let us listen in on a conversation between a casual fan and a casual fan who etc...

"Hey, what movie ya buying?"
"Scream 3"
"*Flips hair back* Conformist"
"Oh, yeah? What're you getting?"
"House on the Edge of the Park"
"Oh, yeah, you're into all those old horror movies"
"Yeah *flips hair back*"

Man, that was the best SP episode ever...conformist...

a couple of thoughts:

- 'Henry' is on spot 100. That alone is already a joke.
- 'The Thing' is on 92. I'm not gonna comment on that, it's just too sad.
- 'In the Mouth of Madness' on 48. Well, at least it made the top 50, but still way too low.
- There are a couple of crappy Friday the 13th sequels placed above 'Phantasm'. Wtf?
- 'I know what you did last summer' on 25. Ok, so it had some hot chicks, but does it deserve to be placed so high? I think not!
- 'Scream 2' is placed one spot above 'Evil Dead 2'. When I read this, I was thinking that all voters should be kicking their own asses.
- Scream on 3? and Evil Dead is only on 11

Final thought: what a crappy top 100

Crappy is an understatement D'Lo. I say we find all those voters and kick their collective asses, Jay and Silent Bob style.

"Do you post on moviepoopshoot.com and voted Scream above The Evil Dead?"

"Yeah."

Jason Goes To Hell beat...

Frankenstein
Pet Sematary
Misery
Se7en
The Hills Have Eyes
The Omen
Poltergeist
From Dusk Till Dawn
The Birds
The Lost Boys
The Howling
The Silence Of The Lambs
Children Of The Corn
Christine
Interview With The Vampire
Aliens

Whoever made this list needs to be slapped.

Jason Goes To Hell was a good movie...but no way in hell could it be in a top 100...let alone beat all of these excellent horror classics.

First off how in the blue hell did FT13 # 8 get in there before "Near Dark", "Candyman", "Hellraiser 2", "Re-Animator" and "The Thing", when it shouldn't have made the list at all. Whoever did this list must have had a FT13 thing going because most of the movies are in there rated pretty high. Don't get me wrong I like the series, but not that much after Part 6. Where are movies like "The Beyond", "Brain Damage", "Versus", "Nightbreed", "Carnival of Souls", "The Frightners", "Dead Ringers" or directors like "Bava", "HG Lewis", or "Castle" and I don't remember anything from "Hammer" on there at all. Minus the "Screams", "NOES:New Nightmare", and "Child's Play" the top 20 seems pretty solid. Oh Jesus I just looked back to make sure no Hammer movie is on the list and "I Know What You Did Last Summer" is at 25. That movie and all it's shitty sequals made me wanna poke out my eyes and puncture my own ear drums. Anyway this list is all in all ok thanks for the post.

Ok if I reworked this top 100. Out of respect for the person who wrote this origonally I left in as many movies from his list as possable only removing movies that I haven't seen. I "*" by the new movies I put in. I'm sure it still could use some work but after reading that crap I've been wanting to revamp it for 3 days so I did. Also the first 5 movies (Cemetary Man - Cat People) I haven't seen so if someone has and would like to give me a yeah or nay that would be cool. They probably needed to be on there but I don't feel its fair to cast an opinion on a movie that I have not seen. Also let me know what you think of the list, for better or worse.

This list was obviously compiled by people with little knowledge of the genre. There was not one Hammer movie on the list!!!! Shocking. Not to mention the horrible movies that placed, stuff like The First Power and Puppet Master. Yes, folks, The First Power is better than Lon Chaney, Jr.'s Wolf Man (which didn't make the list--obviously because the people who voted hadn't seen it). And Friday the 13th pt 7 was a few notches ahead of Whale's Frankenstein. Retarded.

think of the list as a good beginning; the majority of the pictures deserve to be there. But what I think it more indicative of is the age of the respondents, and the movies they were exposed to by television, among other outlets. Every TV station these days seems loathe to program any movie that might seem old or is even - the horror! - in Black and White. Probably good for their ad rates, but the price that is being paid in terms of a cultural heritage... I shudder. It is far easier to find Clash of the Titans for the umpteenth time than it is to stumble onto The Brainiac or Creature With the Atom Brain, and the landscape's poorer for that.

I think that sums up that list.

I'm sorry, but I don't think Tremors should have even been on the list. I mean it is a good movie to watch, but it isn't scary in the least.
