this will be of interest to the handful of people i've promised DVDs to.
As some might know - i've been spending the last 6 - 8 months doing nothing but sorting books with every second of my spare time.... disposing the unwanted - and the doubles.

i started out with about 10,000 books and i estimate that in the end i'll have about 3000.

first i went through paperback fiction... well, as of a few hours ago i just unfinished packing - and rough sorting everything else...

I have 2 rooms i'm using to sort .. in one are my books on film/music in one huge corner, history, anthropology in another, hardcover fiction in another ... and children in the last.

in the middle of the room is everything else. science, books on writing, religion and philosophy, sports (hockey), etc ..

as i sort them and locate/remove the doubles I then pack them away by genre..making more room to sort the other books.

I took pictures that I'll post when I get them off the camera so people can see what i've been dealing with ..

I know this will interest absolutely no one - but I hit a huge milestone today .. i'm tired, my back is killing me .. and i had to tell someone.

pictures tomorrow - for anyone who wants to see what a house full of books looks like. (i was amazed to see that my film related books (including biographies) represents a HUGE percentage of the collection - way more than i ever imagined.

i have no free time ..

the push is on to get the collection pared down because i'm having hardwood floors put into the 2 sorting rooms ..
one is the dining room and the other is the big front room which we're converting into a library. as it stands now all the bloody books wont ft into the library .. gotta trim the fat
