Darkness Falls appears to be one of the most despised modern horror films. Personally, I liked it and never could understand why it is hated so much. Yes, it is PG-13 and not designed to be gory. But I've always like this one. Why the hate?

I've only watched it once, not very long after it came out. Really dont remember alot of it, but I dont think it was as bad as people say.

I hate it. Craptastic story, and shittyass acting and direction. I hate owning this one on DVD.

i thought it was ok ..

the theme i like is in a couple of other recent films as well .. (most noteably nightmare on elm street) - the dont go to sleep - or the stay in the light ...

i guess i get interested in how the characters deal with it ..

If nothing else it was a shitload better than the abysmal "Fear of the Dark"

The storybook/tale by the fireside way it opened I thought was really well done. Most horror movies dream about having such a classy start.

What I hated most about this movie is how it managed to have an absolutely brilliant and classic start, and then proceed with 80 minutes of boring and predictable stuff.

You just can't start that good and then throw it all away...

It started out good, then got boring and predictable.

Great start to the film, shame about the rest. I've seen several films recently that have this problem, Constantine is one of them. The directors seam to use up all their effort at the begining and get bored with the rest.

I thought it wasn't bad, I actually looked over my shoulder a few times the night I watched it.
I don't know what it is but ghost related movies tend to make me alittle on edge.

So if a movie can do that to me then its preety good. The problem is that the basic story has been copied several times, ex. Boogie Man.

I loved the intro.

It went downhill from there. Fast.

Yep. Pretty much the same as Ghost Ship. It's like someone had a fantastic idea for a scene, and then people decided to throw an extra 90mins on it and call it a film.

Stay in the light...stay in the light, well, half the people that got killed were in the frieking light, the damn cop at the end was actually holding a lantern and it got him,,,but the main guy its after could be in a cave and it doesn't get him...good actor in a film that had no chance...I liked two things, the main actor and the story about a haunted tooth fairy that the dvd makes up...dvd would make a great coaster for some Foster's beer as I think this was an Aussie flick?

If there's any reason I don't like it it's because the Tooth Fairy's original design was FAR superior to how she ended up in the film, and I relive the disappointment every time I watch it. I can't find any of the pictures of the original costume (which angers me, because it's fucking phenomenal), but McFarlane Toys made an action figure based upon it, so it's the closest reference I can share...

wow if it looked more like that then it would have made the film better....a better story would have helped too

Watched Darkness Falls a while ago. I think it was ok. Watchable in a hmmmm I cant be bothered doing anything else sort of a way lol.
It was better than Fear of the Dark which I have just watched (kinda why I found this tread).

The general idea behind these films is good and to a point realistic. I liked the individual fears in Fear of the Dark but other than that I found the film kinda boring and predictable, I acctually did fall asleep while watching it and considering the fact that it was only 3pm I think that says a bit about the film.

However all in all I think both these films are watchable and I would maybe watch them again (if no other horror films where available).

:)
