Men charged with raping teen allegedly paid up to $80 for acts committed at homes
SCHENECTADY -- The men accused of raping a 14-year-old runaway paid between $40 and $80 for sex and committed the acts in their own homes, according to felony complaints in Schenectady City Court.
The abuse of the girl, who has since been reunited with her family, took place over a two-week period in January, shortly after she ran away from a Saratoga County group home, court records show.
It took months to make arrests because of incomplete descriptions of the alleged johns and the girl's initial reluctance to turn in the man accused of exploiting her, police said.
The documents emerged Monday, the same day a seventh man was arrested in connection with the case in which another city man is accused of luring the teenage runaway into prostitution.
Eduardo Contreras, 28,[I deleted his address, with was printed in the paper], was taken into custody Monday morning. He's accused of paying $80 to have sex at his home with the teenager. He was charged with felony second-degree rape, felony second-degree engaging in a criminal sexual act and misdemeanor charges of patronizing a prostitute and endangering the welfare of a child.
Like the other six men charged in the case, he was arraigned in Police Court and sent to Schenectady County Jail without bail.
On Sunday, police and prosecutors began to sketch out a story about how the girl ran away from the group home and was taken in by David Tittensor, 33, of Forest Road. He convinced her to have sex with men for money and, in return, he provided her with food, shelter and new clothes, police said.
All of the alleged sex acts with the girl took place during the first two weeks of January of this year, according to documents in Schenectady City Court. Tittensor also is charged with raping the girl, by having sex with her in his vehicle outside his Forest Road home last January.
Some of the alleged johns also are accused of giving the girl marijuana and beer.
Prosecutors said they would move to seek indictments against all the men, who are between the ages of 23 and 36.
The other men charged with paying to have sexual contact with the girl are:
Jack Felthousen, 28,[deleted address]
Richard Guyton, 36,[deleted address]
Jason Rinaldi, 27,[deleted address]
Charles Walsh, 23,[deleted address]
Gilbert West, 29,[deleted address]
The girl has been reunited with her family and is back in school, according to the district attorney's office. She's also receiving counseling, a prosecutor said.
