I recently watched Halloween on AMC the other night and it was the one where every scene it told how they made it or what influenced it and what not. On there Carpenter had said this film influenced him a lot (Directed by BoB Clark) and he came up with one brilliant classic film "Halloween" Well I decided to find this film and I bought it on ebay just a few minutes ago. I was just wondering if any of you have seen it and what you thought of it ? I also just got the November Fangoria and what's in there ? The remake of Black Christmas that is a little "Eerie" isn't it ?

i grew up with this movie ..
i like it but since seeing it for the 1st time in a long time just recently - it doesnt stand up as well now as it did back in the day.
still a solid movie and well enough acted/directed - it just doesnt have the oomph it had when it was new.
there has been a lot of effort by filmmakers to 'out-do' whatever came before - and Black Christmas - one of the origionals ... was definately outdone years ago.
still... well worth owning..

Just watched it again and I agree with Urge.
The film is undoubtedly highly influential, the acting is solid, the mood is great, but there is no drive, no energy to the piece. I still enjoy it, but this is one that I think can be greatly improved upon as a remake.
And since Bob Clark will be reworking his own film, there's a ood chance that it could come out great.

I pretty much feel the same. It's good, but I think Halloween outdid it, whether it was influenced by it or not.
It's a decent slasher, but there's nothing spectacular about it. Like Rod said, there's no drive. There are parts that just feel useless and dull.
The ending is top-notch, though. I really enjoy the last 20 minutes or so.

Fun movie. And this thread belongs in the Modern Horror section because the movie was made after 1970.
Before 1970 = Classic horror films
After 1970 = Modern horror films

So what happens if it was made in 1970? Eh? Eh?!
Film purgatory, I suppose...

Great film, but I kind of agree with the others above. I'll be replacing my tartan disk with the new special edition when it's available (and I kind find it cheap the misser I am) :)
