Found a report on this earlier today:
http://www.horror-movies.ca/horror_6571.html

It was posted originally in September so , I don't know if this is old news to you guys.

According to the site, casting has already been done; it should be out sometime in December of next year and sees the Aliens again fight Preds, this time in modern America.

$1,000,000.00 midwestern town?...humans caught in the middle?
Shit...how about Predator Vs. Batman...why the F would the two of them come together to fight on Earth?
I didn't disslike the first one...I loved the original Alien and Alien(s) II(not 3,4,?) as well as Pred I n II...personally think this has gone far enough though.

I htought it was terrible on all levels. not only was i persoanlly offended (which is hard) by a complete bastardization of 2 franchises i love, it was like Uwe Boll made a movie SUPER lossley based on the AvP comic. I thought it was lacking any redeamable qualities.

I read somethign where Jim Cameron said he thought it was not bad. Maybe it's a good thing he has taken a break from making movies...

WRONG!!!

I think i would definately get into an argument over that... It is dead fucking last, if it is even a llowed in the ranking. 3 was a good movie ( I love Fincher...) but i can understand Cameron not being a big fan, it's storyline taking a whopping dump on the end of his movie, but come ON! AvP is bad moviemaking if nothing else...

QUINT: I remember before Paul W.S. Anderson did ALIEN VS PREDATOR it came out that you kind of made an offer to do another ALIEN film with Ridley Scott...

JAMES CAMERON: Yeah. Ridley and I talked about doing another ALIEN film and I said to 20th Century Fox that I would develop a 5th ALIEN film. I started working on a story, I was working with another writer and Fox came back to me and said, "We've got this really good script for ALIEN VS PREDATOR and I got pretty upset. I said, "You do that you're going to kill the validity of the franchise in my mind." Because to me, that was FRANKENSTEIN MEETS WEREWOLF. It was Universal just taking their assets and starting to play them off against each other.

QUINT: Milking it, totally.

JAMES CAMERON: Milking it. So, I stopped work. Then I saw ALIEN VS PREDATOR and it was actually pretty good. (laughs) I think of the 5 ALIEN films, I'd rate it 3rd.

QUINT: Ummm...

JAMES CAMERON: I actually liked it. I actually liked it a lot.

QUINT: You know, I hate it when movies don't abide by the continuity of their series...

JAMES CAMERON: When they make up their own rules.

QUINT: Exactly. They did that a lot with the alien incubation time, where from egg to chestbuster it happened...

JAMES CAMERON: In minutes, yeah...

QUINT: That kind of stuff really pissed me off with the movie...

JAMES CAMERON: Well, it starts to become a video game. It's like, "Okay, that can be in him and that can show up over here..." It becomes more metaphorical or more comic book. I don't mean comic book in a negative way, I just mean that it's working at a kind of mythic, metaphoric level as opposed to really trying to immerse you in reality.

I mean, I felt when I was making ALIENS I think the same thing Ridley was doing with ALIEN, which is... "I'm going to make you think this is real." Even though it is completely ridiculous deep space adventure. We were going to make you feel like it's real. It's a question of does the film take itself seriously or not.

KRAKEN: So you still thinking about doing something with it?

JAMES CAMERON: No.

KRAKEN: If we promised you our first babies would you think about doing anything with it?

JAMES CAMERON: (laughs) Well, the other thing I've learned is that when you deal with a studio and it's their asset... it's their asset. And I should have learned that lesson with PLANET OF THE APES because I had a great... great idea with PLANET OF THE APES, but it was Fox's asset. Even though I was supposedly developing it we didn't see eye to eye and they sort of picked up their marbles and that was that. They turned out, I think, possibly the most egregious film that they could have on that subject because they miscast the director. It's the only Tim Burton film that I don't like.

Honestly, what do people want? The same movie again and again and again or no more franchises? One Halloween, one Evil Dead, one Spiderman...

I didn't think AvP was bad at all but then again I looked at it not as an Alien movie OR a Predator movie but a monster flick where two well known monsters duke it out. It wasn't a masterpiece but it didn't make me want to burn it either.

I'm not too sure whether I'll just wait for it to come out on DVD or not. The trailer and rating will be what makes my decision. As mentioned its an R, so if over here in england its the equivelant (18) then I'll definately go...If its just a 15 I think I'll wait for DVD.

I think a higher rating was needed in the first one...I didn't hate it, but I didn't like it nearly as much as I was hoping to...They've bought together icons from a couple of the darkest horror-fi films there are, and I think that the film ought to have been a slightly more gruelling, dark experience.
If earth is the setting, fine...that follows on from the alien movies, and the predator/alien comics. "earth wars" was cool, and if they could work something around that, I'm sure it's allow for a better film than the first one was.
Definatalely a good sign that it's beyond PG this time.

That movie by Sandy Collora is fantastic. I bought it off ebay a year or two ago. It's an 8 minute short that has more action and better creature designs than all of AVP.

Batman, Joker, Aliens and Predators... geek heaven!

it's called Batman: Dead End and there's another link to it here

On youtube, I also saw this cool idea (fake trailer type thing) some students threw together for a film set after the death of batman called "grayson". Minus some dodgy effects, it actually looked pretty cool...

The Predator of AVP2 Talks
Source: Darkness January 12, 2007

AvPGalaxy has done another Alien vs. Predator 2 interview, this time with Ian Whyte, who played the Predator in both "AVP" and "AVP2." The interview covers how he became an actor, his experiences on "AVP," what it was like working with the Strause brothers on "AVP2," and how the Predator has changed since the first film as well as what we can expect from the upcoming sequel.

Here's a clip:

AvPGalaxy - Were there many changes to the suit for the second film that might have made it easier for you to wear? I mean, the first suit did look rather bulky.

Ian Whyte - Absolutely! Apart from little design stylisations to make the character unique, the new costume is entirely reminiscent of the original; it was very tight fitting and was designed to make the Predator more svelte, lithe and athletic in appearance.

AvPGalaxy - Which of the two films has been your favourite to work on and why?

Ian Whyte - AVP was a joy to work on because I had never, ever done anything quite like that before. It was a big budget film, with a high profile and it was great to be in a city like Prague for six months. AVP2 has been a real achievement by everyone who worked on it. It was a pleasure to work with old friends again and a pleasure to make some new ones, but if you are putting a gun to my head and asking me to choose, then I would have to say AVP2. AVP was a great film and was hugely successful, but as far as the concept of battles between Aliens and Predators goes; you ain't seen nothing yet!

-----------------------------------------
I would see this movie only for action value b/c we all know that the story will suck ass!

i thought it was hacky and obvious. sorry, i just thought it was trash.

the movies it is based on come from amazing directorial pedigrees:

Predator: John McTiernen: Die Hard and Die Hard with a vengance.
Predator 2: cant remember his name, but directs 24, and did The Ghost In the Darkness and a few other decent and well liked movies (he also did NOES 5)

Alien: Ridley Scott
Aliens: Jim Cameron
Alien 3: David Fincher
Alien: Ressurection: The guy who did City of Lost Children.

Alien Vs Predator: Paul W S Anderson. Made Resident Evil and Event Horizon. NOT a good irector. Everythign he does feels... overdone and lacking talent.

This does not give me hope for part 2 being anythign other than awful.

But hey, if you like it, you like it. I like Virtuosity, and i dont really know anyone else who does.

One of my friends was watching it and

*spoilers*

he left the room for a minute and when he asked what happened his frind told him the Predator had made a shield and spear for the woman from the Alien. He laughed and laughed... until he found out his friend was telling the truth. Like I said, I didn't hate it but why put humans in there in the first place? Have the Aliens invade a Predator ship or planet or... something! Just a big bloody balls out fight to the death.

they would never be able to convince a production company to put down cash on a movie with no people and no dialogue. its an action piece, and lets face it, action pieces live or die on two things, action (duh) and "witty", usually awful and pointless, dialogue.

Epps on Alien vs. Predator 2
Source: MTV February 28, 2007

Shareeka Epps talked to MTV about her role in Fox's Alien vs. Predator 2:

"I play Kendra, a human, and I basically try to protect my brother throughout the whole movie," she said. Remembering how "Jaws" once made audiences afraid to go in the ocean, Epps said "AVP2" is set in Colorado and will dictate where audiences will be afraid to go next. "The aliens return through the sewers," she said of the plot. "It's crazy." Epps won Best Female Lead at the Independent Spirit Awards for her role in "Half Nelson."

"AVP2" hits theaters on December 25.

Anybody else upset that this movie is not taking place on the alien or Predator's home world?

maybe america ties in with how the predator hunts the aliens

in some cases(I.E the comics) the predators would send alien eggs to some poor planet and the eggs would hatch...once the planet was populated with bugs, then they come down and hunt them...duh.:p

I thought the first one took place in the North Pole or Antarctica? Neither one is America. And the first Predator hunted in South America.

All I was trying to say is that I think that we should get a movie were we visit their home worlds, I mean especailly considering how the first AVP ended.
