Just working through the x-files, season by season - for the 1st time ..
and i'm seeing some funny stuff you wouldnt notice if you just saw the shows as they came out on TV.

in every show .. Mulder is sneaking up on a guy .. and instead of getting really close to the person .. he yells 'HEY" from far away and has to chase the 'whatever' from a great distance ... they usually get away.

Also they look up a lot in this show.
must have been tough on the neck.

Duchovney himself has admitted that mulder was kinda stupid at times.

What i get a kick out of is that it akes YEARS before scully, who is otherwise a smart woman, gets it that if mulder says something is going a certain way, then no matter how retarded and far-fetched it is, he is probably right.

"i think it was an alien Mudpuppy ghost."

"I'll be damned...."

oh god yeah ..

she always comes up with an attempt to scientifically explain away everything .. absolutely everything - despite every crazy thing she's seen with her own eyes.

i know in fairness its part of the procedure - and would be in 'real life' too ... but sometimes it just drives me nuts.

the cameras couldnt see the rampaging elephant - not because it was invisible - but because the cameras were poor quality ..

shut up !!! and change your hair !!!

and her outfit .. climbing fences in a pantsuit and a big overcoat .. jeeze !

I also get a kick out of the fgact that some of her scientific explanations are 10 times dumber than mulder's "bullshit" ones.

"Its a ghost."
"No, it could just as easily been a natural gas leak distoring the light given off by train in nepal reflected off a satelite and carried in a jar by hillbillies."

Ive actually been (trying) to do the same thing. Bought season 1 and have slowly but surely been working my way through it...

Was too young when it was on TV, but my dad let me watch it a couple times.

What did you think of the episode "Ice" in season 1? I hated it, but the guy I was watching it with thought it was great. We had both recently watched The Thing...he thought the episode was a cool "hommage", while I thought it was a poorly done ripoff.

Meh, it was an okay episode. the show didnt really pick up much until season 3. i liked the flukeman episode. that one was pretty creative.

my kid watched the Flukeman one and liked it too ..

(i actually have the McFarlane Flukeman toy :D)

re the Ice episode .. x-files went the way of The Movie of the Week several times - and by that i mean they ripped off several different popular horror themes ... Ice being the most blatant ... but there were others too.

I really like the Lone Gunmen guys - i'd like to get my hands on the boxset of that series ..

i guess it didnt last long - was it any good ?

Yet with all the silliness, there were a lot of really great episodes. Some of the storylines were really great. I don't know exactly where Urge is in series so I won't talk about some of my favs, but there were some that were quite good. C'mon guys ;) nit-picking the X-Files, sit down and enjoy yourselves. They're good... even if no self-respecting FBI agent would get themselves into some of the stupid situations that Mulder and Scully do.

By the way, I personally think that Dana Scully's semi-androgenous clothing along with her red hair and petite frame is very sexy, but that may just be because I think Gillian Anderson is sexy. Who can say?

Hmmm...maybe Dana's "innocence" or "naievete" is sexy too...

is it over/still on ?

how long did it last ?

re where am i - I'm almost finished season 2

i'm finding that i like the conspiracy theory shows more than the monster of the week shows - which was quite the opposite of what i expected.

The Lone Gunmen barely made it a season before it was cancelled, and their story was wrapped up along with the rest of the world's in the last season of the x-files.

The conspiracy theory ones were good, and it was nice to have asingle vein that tied all the seasons together, but after the movie, it began to get ponderous. Sadly, by the time robert patrick showed up (and i love him), i had completely lost interest in the series. A real shame too, doggit was a good character.

yeah .. i can see how the thing could wear thin .. the sister thing is starting to feel like a carrot on a stick.

still .. i'll hang on for the ride .. they're good for when you're too tired to watch a 90 minute movie - but you dont want to go to bed quite yet

I HIGHLY recommend the video game for PS1 (Can still be playe don PS2).

Its a full motion video game.
In other words, its pretty much a movie where you control the outcome. You do the investigating, a little shooting, etc etc. Its pretty damn awesome.

Its a pitty FMV games never caught on. SEGA CD and PANASONIC 3DO had a few good ones.
I remember playing a vampire one that took place in good old england.
