Are they horror related?

Deadwood, no. Definately not. That's a show set in the old west and based on facts. It's not horror, but it IS fuckin' awesome. I highly recommend it.

Carnivale, not really. It's a lot closer than Deadwood is to horror, but I don't think I'd really put it into that genre. It's really just a fucked up show about this crazy band of carnival people. I saw the first half of season 1 and then got rid of HBO, but from what I saw it was pretty cool. I have it queued on Netflix but it'll be a while before I get to it.

Deadwood is excellent though. So is Oz. If you haven't seen Oz, then I'd recommend that over either of this. It's a really gritty prison drama and happens to be one of the best shows ever made.

I will check into all three then. I saw them at my blockbuster for rent and figured I'd actually ask first.

The second season for Carnivale is $99.99 to buy.But I saw it used for $19.99 the other day.I should have bought it.

$100 for season 2 of Carnivale? That's a rip off! I believe they only made 2 seasons of that show total. I'm sure if you waited a year to purchase you could find them both together for about half that price.

Deadwood is on it's 3rd and final season right now which will be followed by 2 2 hour episodes that sorta tie up all the loose ends.

Oz is done and you can get that entire series on DVD now. (Which is awesome! I'm almost finished watching it all the way through for my second time.)

All are good, but if I had to put them in an order of which I recommend them, it'd go...

Oz, Deadwood, Carnivale

6 Feet Under is another cool HBO show too.

carnivale, to me, was one of the best shows. ever. not horror really, though there are some elements. more mystery/mystical than anything. everything aboout the series is beautiful, from how it was shot, to the perfect cast (led by a surprising nick stahl, and especially clancy brown).

i really, really recommend this one. you won't be sorry. hell, i'm still pissed HBO cancelled it, leaving so many questions unanswered.

They canceled it after the 2nd season right? But the show didn't know it was ending so it left everything very much open ended? Is that the scoop on Carnivale?
