If Pantera likes it, it's gotta be good.:D They are both considered classics of the genre. I haven't seen Mask of Satan though.
Amityville II is not a bad flick. If you liked the first Amityville, I think you would like the second.

Mask of Satan is the Italian tile of Mario Bava's "Black Sunday." One of the best horror flicks of all time, and it's also Tim Burton's favorite movie (there's an homage in "Sleepy Hollow").
Black Christmas is the first holiday-themed slasher. It was made by Bob Clark who went on to do Porkys. He also wrote and directed Deathdream (The Night Johnny Came home), Children Shouldn't Play with Dead Things, and Deranged (uncredited) with Allan Ormsby, who is now a script doctor. The sequel to Black Christmas was going to be called Halloween, but John Carpenter beat him to the punch. margot Kidder is really sexy in it.

Amityville II was an Italian co-pro so the violence was upped. What's shocking is the incest---the main character seduces his sister (he's posessed, but she strips in front of him quite willingly). The sis is played by the sexy Diane Franklin, who you may remember nude from Last American Virgin. Burt Young from Rocky plays the abusive father. Diane was also in Savage Steve's Better Off Dead and one of the Bill and Ted movies (I think the first, but she wasn't nude and the movie sucked, so I only watched it once.) I can't remember who directed Amityville II off-hand, though. Sorry.
