It's better than a remake or a sequel.

I don't think it's a half bad idea compared to some of the other shit they've been pumping out.

Looking at the trailer, it should be better than the remake.

Heres hoping.

i think it looks ok but it looks just liek the fuckin remake...a buncha kids gettin chased aroudn with a chainsaw.....and the mask looks kinda...well gay...im gonna seee it but im not expecting greatness

I don't think it looks half bad. I thought the first one was pretty good and anything with Jessica Biel in it is worth a watch for eye candy factor alone. Too bad she won't be in this one.

I liked the TCM remake. aLthough I'm agree with that... this prequel looks little bit similar to the remake but still I'm looking forward to it.

I like to be invited @ Hewitt Home!!:)

It's a prequel to TCM '03. The original series (the old seventies TCM-The Next Generation) is over. The Beginning tells the story of Leatherface and how his family got the way that they are. It has no connection to the original series. The family name is even different in the new series, they changed it from Sawyer to Hewitt. Also, I read that The Beginning received an NC-17 rating but was trimmed to an R. Early reviews are saying that The Beginning is one the most disturbingly graphic horror movies of all time and makes the '03 remake look weak in comparision!

Well no shit. That's what the idea behind The Texas Chainsaw Massacre is...a bunch of kids getting chased around by a guy with a chainsaw.

i know its the prequel to the 2003 film but if its not connected to the original films then they shouldnt use the texas chainsaw name.....even if it is a marketing tool, a familiar story that the public are already used to

really hated the remake, can't see as how this one could be any better.

generally I'm more leniant toward a prequel than a remake, so I'll reserve judgement for now. But I ain't seeing this one in the theater.

Old R. Early ripped this movie to shreds in an interview.....he even said he refused to do it unless they let him rewrite his own lines.
I'm not holding out much hope.

I'm planning on seeing it the Sunday after it comes out. Don't really know what to expect... the 2003 version wasn't that great IMO, and this looks only slightly better. It'll probably be an average Hollywood flick, similiar to the 2003 installation. Though, some scenes look pretty pleasing.

I have to agree, I only just read about this film this morning, at first I was anoyed, but then again at least it is somewhat a fresh aproach...

That's an odd plan. Why the sunday after it comes out?

Well, I've read two reviews of this on other horror movie sites, and both are basically saying the same thing : that the prequel is miles above the sequel and that it is a very dark and insanely brutal affair. One even said something like : if this is the R version, I can't imagine what was left out in the NC 17.

Guess my interest for this has just risen a bit...

Yah, "unrated". Meaning one extra minute of useless dialogue.

i think the unrated movies are just...well overrated these days i mean im sick of hearign the term cuz the american pie movies reall just gave the term unrated a stereotype that it meant the movie had more nudity in it...and it comes put that thsi isnt true with all "unrated" movies

I liked the 2003 remake. Doesn't even touch the original, but enjoyable. I'll go see the prequel when it comes out. It'll help that our theatre lets you drink beer while watching the movie!:p

Ermey is a definite draw for me on this one.
I don't think it's possible for that man to be bad in anything.

I'll have to wait for the DVD though.

I agree. Another good example is the Charles Angels 2 DVD, they had an unrated edition and a regular edition which was the full screen. Well I saw this with my semi-girlfriend at the time and I couldn't tell the difference from the original cut to the DVD.

anyone on a site like this that says...."I will wait till it comes ouot on DVD" is full of shit. Like you I am pumped about a movie lke TCM The Beginning coming out. Not very often do horror movies come out in the theaters, good or bad. Since we all consider ourselves horror buffs, you will go see it just like I will.

Not full of shit-just CAN'T get to the theater because of personal reasons.
I would though,go see this in the theater, if I could. I think this movie will actually SCARE me. WOOOHOOO!

If you don't know the why's and what's behind someone's comment-don't lump them into the 'full of shit' catagory right away:D

ok, i saw tcm: the beginning on oct 3, anyone else get a chance to see it free?? the theater was packed. it was pretty good overall. it gives you the background of how the hewitt family got as fucked up as they are. there's a ton of "gotcha" moments, i saw people jumping all throughout the movie. some very nice chasing scenes but the killin' left a little to be desired. i'm definitely glad i saw it on the big screen. oh yeah, just like the remake from '03, it's gore-packed. :-)

I'm looking forward to it! I want to see what happens to a person to make them so screwed up. I'm going tomorrow afternoon, first show. Can't wait.

By the way, they always say that TCM is based on a true story. Exactly what is the true story? Anyone know?

Like many other movies/stories it's loosely based on Ed Gein.

ok i got to see TCM The Beginning tonight and....and.....i am soooo dissapointed!

1.mask was kinda gay even tho it di dremind me of corey taylors slipknot mask lol

2.even tho andrew b. still played him it felt liek it was a totalyl diferent leatherface...and he was skinnier....wtf

3.kinda liked and disliked that everyone died.....you dont see that in too many horror films these days so i guess it was a good idea.

4.not enough chainsaw killing or killing period

idk i just thought it was a let down mostly

1) Which mask, the one covering his mouth or the first mask he made from human flesh? B/c the first human mask should look a little sloppy since its his first mask, but I think it resimbled the mask from the remake preety well for a fresh face, I think by the tiem we get to the reamke his mask should look a little worn down.

2) I thought it still felt like the same Leather Face. I didn't notice he was skinnier. But if he was I would think he would be b/c he's younger in this movie.

3) Everyone had to die b/c if one got away then they would have told someone what happened out there and you wouldn't have the remake.

4) This movie had more chainsaw killing than the remake. I watched the remake right before I saw the prequal and the prequal was the first time I've ever seen leather face run a chainsaw through someone's back and hold them up on the chainsaw while it was still cutting on screen, I think in the remake they only show parts. In the prequal they showed alot more I thought.

Overall I thought that it was just rediculously graphic and violent, not scary.

I went and saw it a couple nights ago and I think it was far better than the remake and had much more killing and gore.
I agree it had many "gotcha" moments, and I never jump in movies, but this one "gotme" a few times.
I thought his first real mask was pretty good considering he just put it right on and didn't even wash it LOL.
All in all I was not disappointed.
