CINCINATTI, Ohio — Phil Burress, the leader of the conservative Citizens for Community Values group said he would press state legislators to pass a bill that would make possession of pornography by convicted sex offenders a parole violation.
Burress, whose group launched a mainstream media blitz in USA Today to boycott hotels that carry in-room adult entertainment in August, said the link between porn and sex crimes was clear, although he confessed he couldn’t necessarily offer proof.

“The connection between the use of pornography and sex crimes, especially where it involves children is obvious though the other side always wants us to prove the correlation,” Burress said. “Sex offenders would be prohibited by law from possessing hardcore, obscene pornography. They cannot possess it or buy it in any way, shape or form. If they’re caught with it and if they’re on probation, then they will go back to jail.”

Burress said he hopes to convince his home state of Ohio to pass the law during the fall legislative session, which he believes will inspire other states to follow suit.

Len Deo, Executive Director of the New Jersey Family Policy Council, said he would lobby for similar legislation in his state.

“I think anything that can be done to enhance the protection of the public when it comes to sex offenders is definitely a good step to take,” Deo said. “We would be very interested."

Of course not...

Isn't it a bitch when people want you to prove the things you say...
If this is true, then just about every hetero male is a sex crime waiting to happen.
Should they have porn...if it's legal, I don't see the problem....

No kidding. i look at it this way:

Give free crack to crack addicts, and they arent going to go rob little old ladies for crack money (in theory), so let the evil bastards slap their salami.

these people go off like this: "Porn is evil! and has been ever since my wife discovered my huge stash under the mattress"

this would also fail to take into account guys who are registered sex offenders because they slept with a chick then found out she was underage. Noot to mention that there was a chapter of PETA in mass that almost got charged as sex offenders for staging a nude protest (fur i think. Oh, the irony)

If they had been charged as sex offender sall o fthem (150 i think) would not have nbeen able to buy pron under this philosophy. To be honest, i would rather they were of playing with themselves than ambushing little kids outside of KFC with bags of fake blood.

Indeed.
They're trying to put a porn store on the main street/highway in my town, and alot of people are up-in-arms about it. They had a protest against it near the location with their 'Porn is violace against woman' signs. Across the street where some guys with 'I love porn' signs. Those guys are awesome.
Oh, that same day in the town center was a anti-war protest. Which is the more worth while.....

In Dover NH, where i graduated from High School, they freaked out a few years back (okay, more like 8...) when they opened a video rental store that happened to have a porn section, half a block from a catholic elementary school.

The funny thing is, they were worried that the "wrong kind of people" would now have a reason to hang out by the school. What they didnt realise is that normal people rent porn from video stores, as well as perverts, and that the sick bastards that they fear3ed would be staking out the school, would already be there. its not liek the porn rental store and the little kids school is a one-stop-shopping setup... not to mention, those freaks arent all that interested in regular porn...

the store is closed now, btu that ius because they sucked, not because they harbored pedophiles. the place laste dalmost a decade.
