The point is to say what your favorite modern remake of an older film is, not to just name a movie you enjoy.

The Thing

The Fly

Hills Have Eyes - I wasn't a fan of the original but loved the remake.

Peter Jackson's King Kong however was a complete piece of shit. The Titanic of monster flicks :)

does the l.o.t.r. count as a remake? probably just the first movie and first half of the second. i suppose it isn't hard to top a camp, psychadelic, hippy cartoon from the seventies. also, is it sad i went to see t.c.m. twice in the cinema?

The Fly + House on Haunted Hill

I want to say The Thing too, but Ive never seen the original:o

THE THING def...and see the original...when that lady comes into the room with that pie...all those "soldiers" there...she says..."Anyone want a piece of this?"...oh that was priceless for BnW cinema.
His name leaves me "Arnes"? maybe...the Sheriff from Gunsmoke TV? he plays the original monster.

The Fog remake was the most boring movie I've seen.

Amen...told some history that made you just want to watch the 1st one again..no chills, bumps etc...I kept expecting Tom Welling to use his Superman powers in the remake :)

Got to say I really like the remake of the Am. Horror (Ryan Reynolds was great).."What the hell is the matter with you people?!"

and TCM remake.

While I enjoyed the Magnificent Seven, I still think the the original Seven Samurai was better. Both are truly fun flicks:D

And the Fog was cool.

I really can't back you up on that one. I'm old enough that the original Fog scared the crap out of me as a kid. To see it as a PG-13 remake featuring WB network actors . . . . well, it just makes me feel a little sick. :(

The Hills have Eyes
Dawn of the Dead
The Thing

Not original at all, but hey, they aren't that many good remakes anyways...

10-18-2006, 10:20 AM
Night of the Living Dead's remake was tolerable...not great by any means...

Dawn of the Dead...a very good effort...

Texas Chainsaw Massacre...pale shadow cept for Jessica Biel's boobs...

The Fog...utterly disappointing...

Omen...not bad, but the original's background score was amazing...

It ll be quite interesting to see how the Halloween remake pans out.
