My Twins are 1.5 games up on the Sox right now for the AL wildcard and only 4 games back on Detroit for the division! (Plus we play Det. 4 more games this year still.)

Johan Santana is a front runner for CY Young.
Joe Mauer is in the lead for the batting title.
Justin Morneau is a fuckin' beast this season.

We got a lot going for us. If Liriano wasn't injured, I'd declare ourselves in right now!

Go Twins!!!

in the AL it looks to be Yankees, Tigers, As and Twins. . . I think this could make for great playoff series - and I think any of these teams could spank the NL contenders!

of course, in the end, i think its a Pinstripes kind of year!

I'm rooting for the Twins only for the fact that, being a Cubs fan, I hate the White Sox with a passion.

It's gonna be a Yankee championship this year... And then a NY Giants superbowl win.

I'm 1 of the 85% of baseball fans that can't stand the Yankees and would honestly cheer for any team in the league over them any day of the week.

One thing going in Minnesota's favor... they're playing for Kirby this year. That, plus all the talent we got this year, might be able to carry us to to our third World Series in my lifetime.

...but you DO need Liriano back... and bad.

My team (The Phillies) are 2 games back. Due to our rain out yesterday and San Diego winning. Phillies hold their own destiny in their hands. We play Houston 5 more times, Florida 9 more times, Chicago 3 more times, Washington 3 more times and Atlanta 3 more times. I think we could do some damage if San Diego falters.

Our starting pitching has been really good the last two months and our offense has really woke up. Due to Ryan Howards godlyness of a year. If just only our bullpen could be strong and help us get there. We never lost the lead after the 8th inning untill the last 3 games because Tom Gordon was hurt and the bullpen was roughed up.

I think we could make the wild card if we just push as hard as we can.

I have faith in them. Like I do every year. :)

I am sure philly fans are regretting trading Abreu now.... He is frigging awesome! He has been huge for the Yankees. He is hitting .366 for the yankees and has .469 OBP. That's insane! I unfortunately see a Yankees vs Mets again in the World Series.

That's like predicting the US Olympic basketball team will win it all.

They sure as hell should win the series since they buy up just about every good player that comes along. Too bad they probably won't because having a bunch of overpaid primadonnas doesnt neccesarily translate into a World Series win.

And AI75, yes we need Liriano back pretty badly. He's about to start pitching rehab in AAA. Hopefully he'll make it back in time for the playoffs,

I'm not to big of a baseball guy, so since the Sox and Cubs decided to pack it in because one player got hurt, I don't have any interest left until the post season.

I'm a Jays fan but they are fucked so I'm cheering for the Twins and Phillies. Howard is fucking insane and I would love to see what they could do in the post-season. If the Yanks make the WS then i hope the Mets do as well so that the subway series is in effect.

Jaime Moyer and Jeff Conine are becoming a great addition to the Phillies. Ryan Howard did it again! Slugging two homers tonight to lift us over the Marlins. If the score holds up and San Fran beats the Padres 3-0 then we will be only a game and a half out.

God please let us get into the post season. We deserve it. Ryan Howard is phenomenal and I have been waiting for a playoff birth for 13 years. PLEASE MAKE IT COME TRUE!!!

lol

Ryan Howard is awesome this season.

Which, unfortunately, means next year he'll probably be a Yankee... ;)

The Yanks mostly wait until they're mid to late 30s to pick up all-stars then get angry if they don't get the same production and/or frequent injuries take place.

Yeah, that Brian Cashman is a genius.

Alright, I'm callin' it right now. Fuck the wildcard race, the Twins are gonna take the division. We're up 2-1 in our game series with Detroit and Johan's 'Cy Young' Snatana is pitchin' today.

After we take the series 3-1, we'll only be 2 games behind them for the division.

Here's my prediction... BOTH the Twins & the White Sox will pass the Tigers and get in, leaving Detroit empty handed.

The Twins and White Sox final 3 games of the year are against each other in Minnesota and I initially thought this series would be the wildcard decider... I now think it'll be for the division and they'll both already be in.

Just a hunch.

NL

Ryan Howard - Albert Pujols

AL

Jermaine Dye - Derek Jeter

Who's winning the MVPs?

I'd say NL is definately Howard. Out of the two choices for the AL I'd say Dye, of course there's still 20 games left in the central race so that could change.

I said out of the choices because if it were up to me I'd give it to Rivera.

Pujols & Jeter out of those choices. Not for my own personal choices, but that's who I think they'd pick.

However, IF the Twins do some damage in the playoffs they'd have to take a look at Mourneau. H'e's having great year too.

I forgot to mention that Liriano is expected to be starting for the Twins sometime this week. Probably Thursday or Friday. If he's back to form, look out!

The Twins would then have 2 GREAT young starting pitchers in Santana and Liriano, the major league batting leader in Joe Mauer, one of the best closers in baseball with Nathan and a pretty legit mvp candidate in Mourneau. Even if they don't get a WS ring this year (Which they will. They're playing for Kirby Puckett after all.) I think at the very least, they are building a really excellent young team right now that should be a force for years to come.

TWINS 12
TIGERS 1

Booyah! We're only 2 games back for the division lead now. White Sox lost today too so that gives us a 1.5 game cushion on the wildcard lead. Did I mention Liriano will be back this week?

Okay, so I may have been wrong about the White Sox passing Detroit, but the Twins are only a half game back now.

Post season, here we come!

With Kirby Puckett acting as our 'angel in the outfield', I'm smelling our third World Series in 20 years. (I know it doesn't sound too impressive to a Yankees fan, but consider that we have a payroll about 1/10 the size of theirs.)

TWINS WINNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNN!

Talk about a dramatic finish! The Twins needed a win today and a Tigers loss to win the division and they got the win, but then had to wait while the Tigers slugged it out in to the 12th inning against the Royals! Woohoooooooooooooooo!

Twins - AL Central Division Champs
Mauer - AL Batting Title
Santana - Cy Young

Mourneau - AL MVP?
Gardenhire - AL Manager of the Year?

I have a good feeling about this post season! We're playing for Puckett!
