when i was young my folks where watching a movie in the lounge. there was a scene where some curtains where moving with a breeze and the frame moved outside to a field with a tree and a girl who turned and looked at the camera. does this sound familiar to anyone? it has been bugging me for years. i know it sounds like every horror movie ever made, but someone has to know. it was roughly 1987.

my parents went to see a movie at the drive in when i was a small kid ..

we were supposed to be asleep in the back of the old station wagon but of course i was peeking (saw my 1st sex scene this way when they went to see Love Story)

I remember at one of them there was an add for a horror movie ..
not sure what it was but it was black and white and there were shots of a killer plant/weed/vine crawling through a house eventually killing people .. and a dismembered hand crawling by itself. this movie must be from the 60's or very early 70's

scared the shit out of me.

I was scared by a TV spot for a movie and it was years, many many years, before I figured out what it was. It seemed to be about a haunted house with a spirit that lived in a painting, based on the TV spot. The dead person would kill the people in the house. One scene showed people being crushed by the converging walls of a shower!

And the film was......ARNOLD (1973). And it wasn't technically a ghost movie, it was about a dead guy who had rigged his house to kill his relatives off--he knew them so well that he designed a special trap that each of them would fall for. And it's sort of a comedy spoof! But that TV commercial was really very nightmarish for a kid to see.

Although it's a comedy spoof, it's still a somewhat disturbingly weird movie.

i remember being really scared by an outerlimits episode about witches. the thing that made it all the more scary was my mom sent me out of the room about half way through because she thought it would be too scary. . . but not seeing the ending made it all the more horrific

I was seven and saw Candyman for the first time. It's been 11 years since then, but I can never finish that movie. Hell, I still can't finish the black and white original Night of the Living Dead. Ugh...the gut-eating scene is what got to me...:p

My friend saw Nightmare on Elm Street (the first one) just a few nights ago. We were watching it and she started yelling "OMG! THAT BASTARD KILLED JOHNNY DEPP!" My reply was "Meh...shut up...drooling over Kruger..." Yes, I find Freddy Kruger attractive.

Urgeok, the creeping vine movie have been "The Triphids" or maybe "The Day of the Triphids", an old black and white where the trees where attacking everyone. I watched this as a kid with my Mom, many moons again, and to this day we call all kinds of out of control plants or trees Triphids. LOL, welll, it cracks us up!

I remember staying overnight at a friends house and watching horror shows in the basement of his house. Sometime between 1978 - 1981 I remember seeing a commercial for a movie that made my blood run cold. The commercial for a movie showed a man sleeping in bed, being woken up by something at the window, and some ghost-like creature waving it's arms and sheets outside the window. I dont' know why - I was 13 or so - but it scared the crap out of me. Anyone know what movie this might have been? Sometime around 1978 to 1981 or 1982?

When I was eight years old I saw Pet Sematary for the first time. This movie has installed a deep-rooted fear within me. I can watch most of the movie. There are only two parts that I cannot watch. The two parts where Rachel's sister, Zelda, appears. It freaks me out! I have to leave the room! This is the only horror movie that has this power over me. Freaks me out!

I remember being up late one night when i was 9 or 10, and the trailer for Dawn of the Dead (original) came on. I had never seen Night of the Living Dead, and just had a fear of any "Living dead" movie from what my older brothers had told me. At the end of the trailer they show the zombies burst into the elavator as the doors open...i just curled up into the fetal position.

Inhalien - The commercial you are talking about could have been for "Salem's Lot" timing sounds about right and it was a TV movie, I think a mini series. The vampire was shown at the window kinda floating and looking in. I remember the commercial also.

That sounds like Salem's Lot (1979). Although I've only seen the most recent version (it sucked), I know that there is a scene where a vampire-child is outside a window, floating and asking to be let in. But it's a child, not exactly a ghost with sheets, so.. not sure..

It's funny to see that most people got scared from movie comercials. It happened the same with me, I was terrified of watching the adds for Nightmare on Elm Street, I had to leave the room or cover my eyes as soon as I saw it coming. :|

But the first fright I remember was with a movie whose name I STILL don't know!!! There is a woman being chased by a man (maybe it was a slasher) and at some point she gets inside a room and picks up a glass with some fluid in it from a table. She throws it at the man and his face goes all red and disgusting, like his skin had peeled off or burned. I never forgot that scene, it scared the hell out of me and I really wanted to see that movie now, to face that fear.
