you have to shoot zombies in the head to kill them.
there's a thought.
Zwoti is referring to the thing that drove me insane about The Beyond.
the scene in the hospital where the inept lead was shooting the zombies (with his unique barrel loading gun)
he'd shoot them twice in the gut .. then once in the head - which finally killed them.
next zombie ... did he shoot it in the head first ? nope ..
2 more to the gut, then one to the head.
repeat process.
and yeah - i sometimes read the general forum if i see certain friends have posted.something..

I did that just to get a little lighthearted thread going on down here. It's heating up a little up north, so I thought I'd come down and chill with a little silliness

I must concur. What about the dipshits in Day of the dead? As far as we know, they have been killing zombies professionally for at least a year, yet they still fire automatic weapons wildly into their bodies....

i think they did that for fun ...
not much point looking at that movie too closely though.
one thing we're going to face as long time horror fans - is that horror filmmakers dont age well.
they make their name as eager, young, hungry filmmakers that take the reigns of their movies with entheusiasm and gusto - desperate to make a name for themselves.
once they do that they're asked to recreate the same old things by expectant fans like performing monkeys ..
i can see things from the fimmakers perspective to some extent - or the rock and roll star who wants to grow in other personallly rewarding directions and away from the old standards they've played 10,000 times ..
but it isnt what the fan wants -
so they end up bitter and dissapointed with the horror genre and fans and make some half assed cynical uncaring attempt at a horror movie to pay the mortgage.
on the other hand i feel for the fans ... the horror film industry is 99% talentless shit so when a jem comes along we pray for them to keep shining so we'll have something to look forward to.
its a no win situation really - which makes me appreciate even more the rob zombies, the sam raimis, and the tarantinos, etc who love genre films and probably always will.
we lost romero, carpenter, burton, and many others ... we should be damn grateful for the guys still trying to carry the tourch.

Neither of those were very "Burton" films, but i still liked them both on their own.
it is very disappointing how things tend to work with horror directors. For such a universally loved genre, it really gets way more than it's fair share of shit.
Horror isnt even hard. Comedy is hard. Horror should be natural. Being scared is part of the meaning of life, and is probably our most primal feeling, after hunger. its nbot that hard to go back to feelings of being scared as a kid and bring them to the surface. that is how I write, and it seems to have worked so far.
I've never had a bad review on anyhthign i have written, and i cant believe that
A. I am that much more talented than all the others (id liek to think i am... but its hard to believe)
B. That everyone who has ever read anything i have written is just kissing my ass. Im not that nice and not that good looking.

yeap .. big fish and planet of the apes werent burton films.
again i'm torn between the fan and the filmmaker ..
i can understand why he would want to try his hand at different things but...
as a fan i'm dissapointed because we only have 1 tim burton ...
there is no one else with his touch.
now that he's decided to make Ron howard films we have lost a unique talent.
Raimi is one of the only directors who seems to be able to jump into Coen Brothers territory (simple plan) and back to genre films without losing a beat.
and you're right - Comedy is the hardest type of film to do well ..
Horror also has it's challenges though .. like origionality ..

Originality is HARD because horror makers are horror fans, so they want to put their own mark on an established theme that they love (I wrote "Father Dillon's Funeral" because i love night of the living dead. The parralels are obvious) and sadly often lack their own vision.
i admit, much of what i write for horror was inspired by other horror. i have a story in the works that came to me after seeing Hostel and the new The Hills Have Eyes. While it's not derivative of either, i think youll be able to pull out what came from where.
i will say that i am very proud of Justice. That one was based on a description my wife gave me of a book she read about the Furies. i htought they could beinteresting ina modern setting, so there you go.
I have a new story called The Safe that i think people will enjoy. Its not based on anything and as far as I know, completely original.
I guess what i am getting at is that some of us still try to do new things. Not that im making movies. Yet.

Unless I'm missing something, zombies need to be shot in the head so their brains are destroyed and they cease to be 'undead'. It is the brain that tells them to kill and eat flesh, or rather just a specific part of the brain if we are referring to the traditional Romero zombie (Logan's experiments in Day of the Dead).

this started as a joke..
(my poking fun at The Beyond and how the guy just didnt get it -kept shooting the bodies even after he saw that shooting them in the head would do the trick)
from there the thread went all over the place...
which is cool ...

Kinda the same idea as beating a werewolf with a shovel, even though you have a gun loaded with silver bullets.

I think all werewolves SHOULD be beaten with shovels, just to be mean to the werewolf. werewolves are already bad off, this would increase rtheir suffering and torment and thatwould be fun to watch.
how to agrivate a zombie:
1) chop off his/her hands
2) bust the bottom of hiis/her jaw off
3) pull all the teeth out
then let the TRY to bite ya...LOLOLOL:D

Or, chain it to the wall in a human nightclub where people go after a long day of zombie-killin', and take pictures with it. The flash bulb really drives 'em nuts.
