What horror films have best showcased the paranoia element? I have several answers but I want to hear yours first.

Okay, good answers. Of course I was going to say The Thing for obvious reasons. Brain Dead (not PJ's film) b/c the whole movie is a study of paranoia. And Maniac Cop. Why Maniac Cop you ask? Because of the media-induced paranoia. The news tells everyone that a rogue cop is on the loose and an innocent cop gets his head blown off by a little old lady. What an influence the media have.

Jacob's Ladder was bad ass - I haven't seen that in SOOO long.

Paranoia Paranoia blah blah someone's coming to get me, just say you never met me, something about living underground with the moles, digging holes...

HERE IS THE ULTIMATE ANSWER!!!!!!!!!!!

Not exactly. I'm talking about an extreme distrust of others, mostly irrational.

Cabin Fever should have played more with this element.

I was wondering if anyone was going to say that. I have to say the original is a paranoia classic b/c it came out around the time of the Communist scare in the U.S.

I just recently saw Rosemary's Baby because of someone's posting on the forum. (I know, I love horror but have NEVER seen Rosemary's Baby...bad me.) Very impressive. I can see why it's a classic. Loved everything about it--the time it's set in, the actors, the whole thing.

Most of the films mentioned in this thread are worth watching.

The Shining. Jack Nicholson pulls off Jack Torrence's mounting paranoia that his wife and son are out to get him.

I have another one on the tip of my tongue, but I cannot seem to get it.
