There's something seriously wrong with Mel Gibson.

I hate this whole Mel Gibson thing.

As with most celebrity things that get out of hand, I find myself thinking "Who fucking cares?"

Gibson will always be a bad ass in my eyes. anyone who hacks the shit out of a dude with a hatchet to the point where he's drenched in blood, while his kids are watching..is a bad ass.

David Hasselhoff just bugs me.

I'll go with Mel Gibson just because he looks utterly insane in that photo. :p

I still like Mel. He has some seious issues, but a lot of people do, it's just that he's a celebrity so everything he says and does is going to be spotlighted. I don't know him personally, so I can't comment on his real personality, but he's extremeley talented and has those beautiful blue eyes. Hope he sorts out his issues and gets the help that he needs.

Mel Gibson is the shit! So he drove drunk & bashed the Jews a little bit... Is that so wrong? He still gave us probably a dozen really KICK ASS movies over the course of his career!

Hitler made some beautiful paintings, but the dude was still a fuckin' loonie.

EDIT: And I can already hear the "You're comparing Mel Gibson to Hitler?!?!" posts now...

90% of the people in show biz are looney, dude.

Hatin' on Mad Max should be against the forum rules....

Other than directing a gore movie and calling it "drama", and being a religious extremist, what did Mel do wrong?

I'm not up to date with his looneyness lately.

Drunken Anti-Semetic remarks at police officers.

you'd think after thousands of years of different groups trying to either enslave them or wipe them out, Jewish people would get a sense of humor about it all...

Really though... He was a retard and definately deserves to have his ass in the wringer for a while. if he REALLY is sorry, he should eventually be forgiven, but i think that is a long road. Now, if he is going down the "Im saying sorry because I know Im in trouble, but i dont really mean it" route, then screw him.

My vote goes for Mel, but George Michael looks SCARY in that photo! That must have been the look on his face when he got caught in the toilet with that other guy.

The Hoff is deluded about his place in the world.

BUT - I'm torn in my opinions about Mel Gibson. On one hand, a man who is devoutly religious shouldn't believe things like that, and we all know it's not cool to say stuff like that anyway.

On the other hand:

1. He was drunk. Not an excuse, but a reason. I reckon we've all done things compeltely out of character that we're not proud of when we've had too many.

2. They're just words. It's not that much of a big deal. No-one was bleeding afterwards.

3. I am finding it difficult to have sympathy for (not all) but the hardcore Jews who are slamming him and want him jailed, yet fully endorsing what Israel is doing to innocent people in the knowledge that they are crimes against humanity.

Anyway, just wanted to try to verbalise what I'm thinking about it all.

Wise words from a breakfast bread.

The thing is, Words can hurt; they are very powerful. if you dont believe me, look at Erik Harris and Dillon kleibold. It wasnt much more than words that sent them over the edge. granted, bullets hurt worse, but i think that was their point.

gibson - no doubt. getting drunk is no big deal to me (as i am usually in the same pursuit) - looking for sex is about the same (i'm not gay and don't seek anonymous sex but if that's what someone is into and its consenting adults - cool)

gibson blew it on two fronts - first drivig while drunk is way outside the line - no excuses for that; second, hate and intolerance are horrific and pathetic

I take your point.

But, what I would say is that a lot of people (if not most) have been bullied in some form during their lives, certainly most people I know or have known, and I would guess that the majority of people on this board have experienced something that they regard as bullying.

My point is this: it takes a particular kind of person to take bullying/name calling and use it as a fuel for murder. People with that kind of instability - if it wasn't one thing it would be another.

I'm not saying that Gibson's words weren't wrong - they were, but they were just words. If someone now kills Gibson as a result of him insulting Jews, then that person would have most probably tipped over the edge because of something else somewhere down the line.

If Gibson had beaten somebody, and then said: "That's because you're a Jew," then that's one thing, but to be drunk and shoot your mouth off, and then be attacked from all sides by a group of people who are infamously vocal anyway (I'm not criticising, that's just the way it is), is not cause to be caught in this maelstrom of hate.

Also good points. I like it when subjects like this can be the subject of intelligent discussion rather than a bunch of people getting emotional and spouting off names.
