View Full Version : What do you think of the following movies?

I recently made a 'Listmania' on Amazon.co.uk...

It's based upon serial killer horror films, most of which I haven't yet seen, so I was wondering - those who have seen them - what you thought about the films:

http://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/richpub/listmania/fullview/RQV3U33CJOAOT/ref=cm_lm_byauthor_title_full/026-1324541-2261257

There are more films to be added to the list but are not yet on Amazon.co.uk so the last film explains what movies are also in the same type of style.

I also have another 2 lists:

A general horror
http://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/richpub/listmania/fullview/R100L424VUB8F/ref=cm_lm_byauthor_title_full/026-1324541-2261257

A religion based horror
http://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/richpub/listmania/fullview/R5Z2YT5UYDPRT/ref=cm_lm_byauthor_title_full/026-1324541-2261257

Tell me what you think :)

And also a little poll for you to fill out, see above :) (I've added my vote.)

Care to explain how you figure Blair Witch Project is "Religion Based"?

horroraddict19

Okay, what I meant by religion based was the fact that it contains anything to do with:
God
Devil
Witches
Spirits
I kind of count witches as a religious type thing. It's kind of like devils and whatnot. When making the list I wasn't sure what to add "Blair Witch Porject" to so I put it in the list because I felt it was most like the ones already there.

(Any one care to explain what, slasherman, The Flayed One, and tarcher80 are on about?)

Not really getting Devil's Rejects either.

Witchcraft is a religion but the actual practices of witchcraft have nothing to do with the movie.

Besides the word devil being in the title and the sheriff going nuts and declaring himself the lord's arm of justice, there's no religious stuff in there either.

Also, having horror broken into 3 categories is too much generalization.

The fact is that I haven't seen many of these films, therefore I have based it upon the title.

Don't think haunted would care too much for that comment.

Well, you can take Rejects off the religious list, I don't think anybody would disagree. But that's just my opinion, it's your list, do what you do.

:( I seem to have been got at through this thread, I was only trying to find out about some horror films I have yet seen. :(

From the three earlier comments by slasherman, The Flayed One, and tarcher80 I can't help but think they were somehow taking the mickey... having a good laugh about this thread.

I don't understand why people can't see that I'm new to the forum and most probably will get a few things wrong when starting out. :(

EDIT: If a moderator reads this thread could you please remove it. I don't seem to be getting the feedback I wanted.

there's nothing wrong w/ posting a thread to invoke opinion on movies you haven't seen, it's just the way you posted it looks like spam. we’ve had problems w/ spam in the past and excuse us if we're a bit wary when someone attaches links in their thread.

"general" seems to be a good description of the type of horror film I like, as broad as that is................although that can encompass a lot of things, including the other two categories, neither of which I care for particularly, but both of which have had a few good films in my opinion. For example, an example of a really good religion-based horror film would be "Dracula Has Risen from the Grave." I liked that one a lot.

And I wasn't gonna say it, but then I thought about and and said, "Why the hell not?" I really *hate* serial killer films, with the clever deranged flipped-out guy sitting and planning elaborate weird shit to do to people. This category has sure had its good moments (Seven, Silence of the Lambs) but most stuff I have seen feels devoid of creativity and bores me endlessly. Boring, boring, let's move on.

I would rather watch a straight slasher movie (not the most creative genre, but these are usually charming in their simplicity).

I like monster horror the best, so I guess that would fall under the general category.
Please don't take it too personally. Everybody pokes fun here.

I guesse I'm a little hard headed when it comes to the Serial killers. I'm a die hard Fred-head.

Freddy is a little more interesting, because he started out as a standard serial killer and then became a very powerful vengeful ghost/demon.

Just because witches were burned at the steak for religious reasons does not mean they have anything to do with religion based horror movies. Well thats what i belive anyways. I picked general cause i do preffer those...

Sorry I can't vote because I like them all. If it's a horror movie or even just a kinda creepy movie then I'm going to watch it probably more than once. I even like the really stupid horror movies.

I hate that too! I hate it when kitchen's witches burn my steaks. And if I ask for medium rare, it's always underdone...like WAY underdone!

That's why I've switched to TOFU.
