holy crap! that poor girl!

A 10-year-old girl was found dead of apparent scalding wounds Saturday morning, and her father and his girlfriend have been arrested.

Police say Jordan Gonsioroski was severely burned with scalding hot water on more than 70 percent of her body, and that her arms, legs and genitals show signs consistent with a burn patter of being in a tub of hot water.

“We suspect that the child may have been in real desperate conditions for a period of up to three hours,” says Sheriff Bruce Anderson of Anoka County.

Police were called to the Blaine mobile home park around 2:30 a.m. Saturday, but it is not clear if Jordan was already dead.

Police arrested her father, 26-year-old Jason Gonsioroski, at approximately noon on Saturday, after exercising a search warrant for nearby shed in which he was hiding.

Jason Gonsioroski’s 25-year-old girlfriend, Julie Meier, was also arrested.

“We believe that there was clearly sufficient time for them to exercise their responsibilities as adults and as parents, to seek medical attention for a child who obviously was in great distress,” says Sheriff Anderson.

Investigators continue to gather evidence for possible criminal charges. They add that it does not appear she struggled, suggesting that she may have been in an altered state of consciousness.

“In the end this is one young lady who really deserves at the time of her death that no one turns their back on her now,” says Chief David Johnson of the Blaine Police.

Ugh, that's awful. It reminds me of a V.C. Andrews book.
