View Full Version : Aww...How Sweet

A little girl had been shopping with her Mom. She must have been 6 years old, this beautiful red haired, freckle faced image of innocence. It was pouring outside. The kind of rain that gushes over the top of rain gutters, so much in a hurry to hit the earth it has no time to flow down the spout. We all stood there under the awning and just inside the door.

We waited, some patiently, others irritated because nature messed up their hurried day. I am always mesmerized by rainfall. I got lost in the sound and sight of the heavens washing away the dirt and dust of the world. Memories of running, splashing so carefree as a child came pouring in as a welcome reprieve from the worries of my day.

The little voice was so sweet as it broke the hypnotic trance we were all caught in "Mom let's run through the rain," she said.

"What?" Mom asked.

"Lets run through the rain!" She repeated.

"No, honey. We'll wait until it slows down a bit," Mom replied.

This young child waited about another minute and repeated: "Mom, let's run through the rain."

"We'll get soaked if we do," Mom said.

"No, we won't, Mom. That's not what you said this morning," the young girl said as she tugged at her Mom's arm.

This morning? When did I say we could run through the rain and not get wet?

"Don't you remember? When you were talking to Daddy about his cancer, you said, 'If God can get us through this, he can get us through anything!'"

The entire crowd stopped dead silent. I swear you couldn't hear anything but the rain. We all stood silently. No one came or left in the next few minutes.

Mom paused and thought for a moment about what she would say. Now some would laugh it off and scold her for being silly. Some might even ignore what was said. But this was a moment of affirmation in a young child's life. A time when innocent trust can be nurtured so that it will bloom into faith.

"Honey, you are absolutely right. Let's run through the rain. If God let's us get wet, well maybe we just needed washing," Mom said.

Then off they ran, hand in hand, laughing and squealing, holding shopping bags over their heads. We all stood watching, smiling and laughing as they darted past the cars and yes, through the puddles. Then they got hit by a bus.

So...Maybe just a little soft...

Allllll Righty then, whadda delightful image. It IS a very special thing, ya know :)

Just be glad I didn't tell you guys ALL the details...

Did you know if you cut an artery, it can shoot more than 15 feet across a room? Everyone gets their blood pressure checked from time to time, but ya never really stop to consider that pressure=FORCE...It was incredible....Luckily, the doctor was able to stop it in seconds, she said "WHOA...That's a good one!":D...Dustin said it was the coolest thing he'd ever seen, and only one nurse got hit (she was standing about 10 feet away, the spray got her)..I had never wondered how long it would take for the human body to completely bleed out, until that day...I mean, I had to be looking at AT LEAST a pint, right there in the air, all at once...

Oh...And now we (Dustin and I) both know what my ovaries, uterus, bladder, and intestines look like :)

I'm not even gonna tell ya about the spinal block...Cuz, apparently my vertebrae are too close together (my torso is very short, that's why I can't actually 'give birth', my uterus is on it's side, front to back, because it won't fit any other way, and the babies can't get out on their own)...So, the anesthesiologist had to try FOUR times to get the needle all the way into my spinal cord...The first time he said, "Oh sorry, that's not gonna work, I can't get this needle between the bones, it's getting stuck, the bones are too close together"...Then on the second jab I heard, "Well, that's not gonna work either, the needle is IN the bone now, it won't go through"...So, each time he goes a little higher (to the parts where the skin hadn't been numbed), on the third one I said, "That feels like it's in my kidney now", he said, "Oh no, I'm way up here, it's nowhere near your kidney", so I said, "I KNOW it's too high up to be in my kidney, what I'm trying to tell you is, it FEELS like it's in my kidney, so you are obviously too close to a nerve"..Then he says, "Oh, I see what you mean...Let me try again"...So, A little higher, and I let out a 'whoosh' of air, and he said, "Where do you feel it now?"...And I said, "Right where you jabbed it".....The preparation for the C-Section was WAY worse than the C-Section...It even made me sweat, which I thought was really weird...

You men should be glad you can't get pregnant...

Oh...And...It looks like I DID end up telling you about it after all :D

A hundred years ago, Christmas was a great time for telling ghost stories around the fire. Now it's a great time for scary zombie movies. Birth tapes probably would go over pretty well too! Especially the squishy ones.

You just gave me an AWESOME idea!!!...Halloween is our favorite holiday...The kids like Christmas cuz they get crap, but personally I think it's a pain in the ass.....This post that you just made gave me a mental picture (I have no idea why, just the way my mind works) of a black Christmas tree, silver garland, with silver crosses and horror-type ornaments all over it....Now, I can't wait till Christmas!...

All you need to do is watch A Nightmare Before Christmas for inspiration.

I'm glad I don't celebrate Christmas... although I still have to visit my relatives.

However, I do celebrate Halloween, but not in the same way most people here do. I try to end the night with a good film, but sometimes I'm just too tired.
