i WAS CURIOUS SINCE IM SEEING ALL THE REGULAR FILMS BEING BROUGHT UP BY PEOPLE THAT ARE GORY LIKE LUCIO FULCI'S FILMS AND ANY LIVING DEAD FILM. iF THERE ARE ANY GORY UNDERRATED MOVIES THAT NOONE REALLY KNOEWS ABOUT.

Don't really know if this belongs in the "Modern Movies" side of the forums but in any event based on pure gore, one of my all-time favorite movies has been the "Demons" franchise by Dario Argento. Especially parts 1 & 2.

dario argento is one of the best itallian horror filmmakers. This makes me wonder if there is anybody comparable to luci or dario or even better in todays modern world of horror.

If you want gory you have to watch Dead Alive.

Some of the more obscure giallos are frighteningly sleazy and violent (and misogynist!), such as Black Angel (aka Arabella) and So Sweet, So Dead.

You might want to explore some Asian Category III films such as The Untold Story, Ebola Syndrome, Doctor Lamb, Run and Kill, Red to Kill, The Flower The Flesh & The Blood, Naked Blood and Evil Dead Trap.

More recently, the August Underground movies are creating quite a stir in their realism.

Its weird that the american market of horror cant turn out good gorey movies as much as the asians. It seems like the asians have come out with so many horror films in the past 4 years its wild but the sucky thing is i have sit there and watch through a sub title why cant somebody in the states pump out good storylines to add to the gore instead of stealing the asian ideas and running with them. We need to step up.

That was pretty sick, but the worst thing to me was (during) the last big scene with the lawn mower and all, when he was grinding everything up, and then the ribcages and intestines and other parts of zombies started attacking, holy crap it was nasty. And I was eating lasagna!

I didn't think that Demons was that gory. But I guess I have been pretty desensitized over the years...

i guess what makes a good gory movie (for me at least) is not only the level of carnage/gut spilling, but the believability of it all. dead alive had some great gore sequences, but b/c the movie was so fucking hilarious i didn't take it seriously; it was like i was watching a cartoon, albeit a very disgusting one. two movies that stand out for their disturbing and realistic gore are: day of the dead and saving private ryan. the scenes towards the end of day of the dead where the soldiers are cornered by the zombies and are ripped apart really turn my stomach (in a good way). savini's make-up is great and combined w/ the gritty cinematography/morbid soundtrack, it makes for some great shots. also the scene from saving private ryan where the german soldier slowly drives the knife into the jewish soldier's chest is brilliantly sickening.

I've heard American Filth is pretty rotten, but I've never seen it. It almost sounds like one of those films that's an urban legend. If it's not, it's practically impossible to find.

There are some excellent effects in both August Underground movies.

Dead Alive is of course a great gory and funny movie

Blood Feast 2 however may be more sickening. Gordon goes all out to try and gross out his viewers. It is just so real looking and the deaths are so brutal.

------Death Spoiler--------

For instance one of the last deaths he takes an electric carver knife and starts at the back of the girls head and works his way up peeling off the skin of her face. At this point her blood covered skull stops screaming and he starts cutting open the top of her skull. He then plays with the brain

-----Death Spoiler End------

however this movie is not serious but funny. It is still great

Dead Alive is a classic!

i'll add Mermaid in a Manhole....original and very disgusting

I saw that one recently. Only horror movie that's ever managed to turn my stomach! *shudder* I'm actually not sure if that or Audition was the more disturbing!

i thought mermaid in a manhole was kinda stupid. the entire movie just consisted of pus squirting in slow motion. barley any mutilation or killing or plot for that manner...just a nasty disease and pus squirting throughout.

PR3SSUR3
07-13-2006, 04:29 PM
Yes it is a primarily pustular, oozing state of affairs.

People complain about the 'pointlessness' of the highly provocative The Flower, The Flesh & The Blood and Devil's Experiment, but if any of the main Guinea Pig titles are lacking in substance perhaps it is really this one.

So he paints his decomposing mermaid bitch - big deal?

:D

Yeah. It really struck me as pointless. It's odd too, because I've worked in hospitals and the real thing doesn't bother me a bit. And in films that have an actual plot, it doesn't seem to bother me either. But for some reason that movie just grossed the fuck out of me. Creepy little bastard and his funky fish-woman. Pleh!

yea, i think just about everyone on this thread... it's a little overrated, but non-the-less is pretty sick and disturbing:)

*the real animal killings are the worst (in my opinion)... oh yea the prolonged rape is a little off-color too :p

And.......... August Underground Movies Are What One Would Call Garbage.

PR3SSUR3

Nick Palumbo doesn't make good films - however the August Underground team have implied quite intense reality in their fake 'snuff' movies, making them by far the most convincing yet.

I'm not sure about any Herbie connection, but several bad German gore movies might cheer you up:-

Zombie 90: Extreme Pestilence
Anthropophagous 2000
Violent Shit series
Premutos
Black Past
The Burning Moon

No, it's a low budget film by Olaf Ittenbach. Two stories - featuring serial killers, zombies and a torture scene in hell.

Gory, but bad production values (and I'm not sure if this film has been English subtitled yet).

It's been awhile since I've watched it, but I recall HE NEVER DIES(also part of the Guinea Pig series. The boxed set is great) being pretty gory.

The correct title is confirmed in The Dark Side interview with Hideshi Hino, but as far as I know the film has yet to be released with English subtitles (dialogue is minimal).

Until then, it seems stuck with its misnomer - though you would have thought DVD companies releasing it should have cottoned on by now.
