How's everybody doin'?
So what's everybody's plans for the 4th? Fireworks? Alcohol? Both? It's my sister's birthday, so I'm drivin' back to Chicago to hang out with her, but what are y'all doin?

Watchin' zombie movies, drinking nonalcoholic beer, and looking out the window at the local fireworks show.
I actually did have a rum and fruit juice type drink the other day, and that was enuf alcohol for a little while (whew!).

I'll be working....
Well not so much working as getting paid to sit on the internet all night because our hotel is dead this week. Either way, I won't be doing any celebrating.

Seriously?
Well, I can't tell if you are serious or not, but I know you aren't from the U.S. so I'll do the polite thing and fill you in...
July 4, 1776 - United States of America declared it's independence.
It's the USA's 230th birthday. *shrug*
Like is said, I'll be working...
i'm sorry and i'm sure some folks will be pissed off but . . . given the state of this country - with an unjustified war becoming a massive quagmire and our civil liberties slowly being sold down the river and the economy rapidly heading toward the crapper - i can't get into any sort of patriotism. . . i think i'll just watch the world cup and dream of moving back to europe

We're going to burn large quantities of animal flesh and swill good beer with abandon. Then we will take all the children from our group of friends and terrify them with loud explosives. Then we will bring them back to my apartment and put them in sleeping bags on the floor and drink more beer in my living room and watch Evil Dead 2, because it's my house and I said so.
God Bless America, even when it sucks.

Well let's see... I live out in the middle of no where. My parents are at the beach (I had to stay home, because my ear's fucked up and I can't get my head under water- what's the point of going to beach if you can't swim in the ocean or the pool, plus I can't be in the sun), everything's closed. My closest (distance wise) friend went home to New Jersey.
So, it's me, my puppy Sophie, the computer (for a few more minutes), maybe a book (I was supposed to get my books on Voodoo yesterday...GRRRR!), and no alcohol because I'm on pain meds.
Hopefully, we'll get another thunderstorm. There is some lightning going on outside.
Zero, I'm not mad at ya. Cynicism never hurt anyone, but what America is today is not what Ben Franklin would have wanted at the signing of the Declaration...of course, he probably wouldn't have wanted me to be able to study Witchcraft either.... ah well.
As much as I may agree with zero's assessment, I still gotta believe the notion that this is the best damn country in the world.Sure.....some of our leaders are a bit fucked up.....but who's ain't.HAPPY FOURTH OF JULY.

Anyway enough of that, what's this about 'string theory'?

Richie's Turn:

3 days of parties and fireworks to celebrate the birthday of our nation. I won't get into any sort of political debate here (I like these forums because there isn't much of that) but I will say that I love living in the USA and will continue to love it no matter who "runs" it.
Although we didn't have any Wacky Noodles. :(

Everybody went out, I stayed home. For whatever reason I didn't feel like it. Few drinks, few movies...that was all for me.

We went out to the lake... lit stuff on fire, and as usual got in fight with a random drunk asshole. Good times:)

Benjamin Franklin also originally didn't want most European races to be part of America... only British Anglo-Saxons. It later opened up to Nordic and Aryan races, but nothing "swarthy". Franklin only opened up Germans because there were a lot of non_English speaking Germans in his community and he needed their support and allegiance.
So basically the foundation of this country is based on prejudice... which is why I celebrate the 4th of July purely on the merit of fireworks and alcohol.:D
i listened to an Ayumi concert, talked to some online friends, listened to the annoying sounds of fireworks in the distance and played with my daughter
