Has anyone heard of/seen this movie?

Judging by the production stills (http://www.gomorrahy.com/trailer-park/meatball-machine.htm), it looks like some kind of cross between Cronenberg, H.R. Giger, and... ???

I first heard about it at this spring's Philadelphia Film Festival. From the description page: (http://bside.phillyfests.com/?_view=_filmdetails&_template=phillyfests&filmId=310809&) Meatball starts off as a sweet romance, but that doesn’t last long: shy, lonely factory worker Yoji has a crush on fellow factory employee Sachiko, but just when they start to bond…well, aliens invade the earth and attach themselves as parasites to human bodies. The method of parasitism is grotesque enough – the aliens implant tumor-like globules on the shoulders of their victims and pilot them like robots There's a Quicktime trailer here: meatball_machine.mov (http://www.gomorrahy.com/images/meatball_machine.mov), which includes someone's head being sawn in half.

The imdb page (http://us.imdb.com/title/tt0820111/) is fairly recent, there are no comments or details yet.

I'm pretty new to Japanese horror - so here's Shinya Tsukamoto's imdb page (http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0875354/) . Which films do you think it resembles most? The Iron Man series?

Well, I saw Meatball Machine at the Fantasia Festival about two months ago. I had high hopes about it, and was sorely dissapointed!

There were some funny parts, but for the most of it the movie was boring and extremely cheezy. It's a cheap film by all means, so sorry to burst your bubble...

Cheap can be good if its funny or has a good story, but Meatball Machines was neither, at least in my opinion. I actually dosed off a couple of time during the screening :(

Its a new film (2006), so I don't know when there will be a DVD for this one...
