Wow! Short engagement. I'm guessing you two have discussed this topic before. :)

Congratulations! Are you going to post pics here of the happy day? Best wishes for a happy life together. Take care of each other and you'll be fine! :D

thanks guys...:)

Yes we both discussed it. Actually we both are working people so its kinda short timed (she is an Accountant in a huge consulting firm, I m a financial consultant), cuz we wont get long breaks from either her office or mine. The honeymoon we have planned will be fall 2006 or after, depending on the situations then.

But yeah, it was sorta love at first sight. I ll be posting pics on here thats for sure.

@ BW, lol no knocking up. Although I wish I did. ;)

It sounds like you might get your chance in Fall of 2006. ;)

I just got married @ the end of April but we waited on our honeymoon too. I'm glad we did too because if we had went right away, it'd be done already, but instead I still have a week long vacation at the end of this month to look forward to. It sorta extended the fun of it all by an extra couple months for us.

Yeah no use going on a honeymoon on short notice and get back to work without even enjoying it. Its a time to relax and get intimate. Thats why we decided to have it around Fall time, when we ll have at least a month-long break from work till New Years.

Its a good thing you 2 waited too, makes the wait all the more worthwhile, doncha think?

For sure.

Plus, there's so much to be done after the wedding with name changing, combining finances, thank you cards, getting the house organized, etc... We still aren't even done with it all so it would have sucked to get home from a honeymoon and have all of that crap waiting for us. This way, it'll all be done and we'll actually be able to enjoy ourselves.

Working at a hotel is actually showing a benefit too, which is nice. I get a HIlton discount at any Hilton brand hotel so we are staying at the Hilton Beachfront Resort in Longboat Key Florida (About an hour from Tampa) in a normally $260/night room for $59/night!!! (Go Hilton discount!!!!) Our total price for 5 nights is less than it would cost fo 2 nights there with no discount. :D

Then for the last 2 days we're there, we are gonna cruise over to Orlando and we're staying at the Doubltree Hotel (Also a Hilton property) that is right at the gates of Universal Studios fo $39/night!

This all reminds me.... I need to start tanning or my pasty white as will fry.

wow thats great BW. Plus you get other benefits courtsey the hotel management, and trips to anywhere you please. It does pay to work at the Hilton. I m glad for both of you. Have a great one bro. Post some pics of that too, I d love to see em.

Summer-time in florida can take a chunk outta your bums. Its a better idea to stay in the shades, or you ll end up with deep-fried ones which wont let you sit or sleep. Also, the cream takes awhile to work, it doesnt soothe rightaway grrr. (Trust me on that one, it hurts like a bitch alrite!)

I m planning to go to Maine. We have a cabin there on the outskirts by Bar Harbor, then on our way back we ll have a quick trip to New York (for shopping), then off to Nashville to meet her folks, where we ll be joined by my folks, spend New Years there, and be back here in Frisco by first week of January.

Also, I have to start saving a lot more money. Its gonna be an extravagant 2006 for me from now.

Good luck with everything!

I do? Haha. I haven't seen any trips from them coming my way thus far. My manager will give me a gift certifcate here and there for a job well done or whatever but they have yet to send me anywhere. :(

Like I said, I need to get tanning. I'm pale, I'm Irish & I live in Minnesota. Those 3 things can add up to a pretty nasty sunburn in a hurry.

Cool! The only place I've ever been on the Northeast coast is Boston & that was for a work thing (I used to be in the catering industry) so I didnt get to see the town much. What I saw, I liked though. I've never been out to NYC, but I'd love to get here sometime.

Haha. Don't bother. Whatever you make and save, she'll spend anyways. That's the way they operate. ;)

You aren't kidding! Luckily for us, her dad picked up the tab. (and what a tab it was!)

One really lame thing is that most reception places make you buy their kegs, which would be fine, but they charge like $300/keg for something I could go to the liquor store and get for $60. That was pretty lame. We went through 5 of them so it woulda been $300 total from a liquor store, but it ended up being $1500 (Just for beer!!!!) because they jack their prices up so much.

thanks scouse bro...and yea lmao, the convo is really rivetting if you are talking dollars and stocks and figures etc. ;)

Damn dont I know expensive! The figures which we have started adding have come up to the six-figure mark, and are adding up more geezbus...

@ BW...damn they should give you some added benefits, specially when your on your honeymoon, cuz you are a bonafide employee of em...

Also, you ll love Maine. The countryside and the people are really cool, plus places like Bar Harbor are a treat to watch, with the ships and boats and beaches and rocky cleefs...you should make it a point to visit it sometime.

NYC is awesome, its the best city in the US, IMO. Whenever you get a chance, make it a point to visit these two places.

If she plans to stay at the Hilton, then I might end up with an empty wallet and zero credit. lmao, THAT might be fun! :D I might end up calling you and asking YOU to bail ME out... :p

Thats cuz they realise the people buying it are wedding parties. And they need their beer kegs. Damn em!

Over here we are going through pretty much the same situation. Beer kegs are gonna cost us a bitch! Add it to the other alcohol, and thats a big figure in $$ you are looking at.

Its an all round winner. (although nothing can beat Vegas at night)

Hollywood, blah, its ok, but it aint THAT great. Not much to see there cept studios and Beverly Hills in the distance. There are some really excellent clubs, but thats bout it.

I liked all the sightseeing in Hollywood. We went & checked out the bowling alley they filmed Big Lebowski at, the Nightmare on Elm St. house, Beverly Hills, etc... We didn't even go to the studios while we were out there except for a Jay Leno taping. We did run in to a couple celebrities too. (That's probably my favorite thing about Hollywood. The random celeb. sightings.)

We bumped in to Macy Gray at Amoeba Music store, Adam Sandler at Barney's Beanery & John Crier (Ducky from Pretty in Pink & now he's on 2.5 men with Charlie Sheen) at The Troubadour.

Vegas rules. I'm a very avid poker player so I absolutely love it down there.

I ve been there many times. Also, I mentioned somewhere in some other thread, the only on-screen time I had was in Michael Bay's Armageddon, when I was in the crowd cheering Bruce Willis's crew. That came, courtsey of a friend who knew Bruce, and introduced me to him. That guy's freaking awesome!

Its a great place to get mementos. I got plenty of em from studios who had discarded em from classic movies, such as the pumpkin from Halloween, Alien's head made outta some sort of synthetic thingy, posters, autographs etc. I framed one of Marilyn Monroe which I was able to pick from Universal.

Speaking of celebrities, if you go to Maine, make sure to stop by SK's house at Bangor. If the guy is at home, he is more than accomodating to meet his fans. I got invited to lunch with him, and also gave him some gifts. His wife, Tabby, is really nice too.

I m out. Its gonna be another long day tomorrow.

I was an extra in Little Big League when I was younger. That was my only onscreen time in a studio motion picture. (Not counting The Cabin, which hasn't been released yet and is independent, not studio.)

Also when I was a kid, I got a 2 callbacks for the part of Danny Devitos son in Jack the Bear but I didn't get the part.

And that Tim Allen movie, Joe Somebody... They filmed the last scene of that right across the street from my house in St. Paul. Me and my friends sat on my front step and drank beer & watched them all weekend. That was pretty fun.

Vegas! Vegas! Get yer mom and dad, her mom and dad, a few of yer close ones, and have Elvis marry you. It makes for the fact that it's a short dream period. You could make a weekend of it and have stories for the grand kids.

Congratulations! Getting married is great, and everybody should do it at least once....although I've already done it twice:)
The last time I got married we did it in Lake Tahoe, and I gotta tell you, Vegas is great but Tahoe is one of the most beautiful places in the world. It's only an hour's drive from where I live and if you like gambling and good food and romantic stuff, you need to check it out before you die. The lake is currently about 96 percent pure, which means it's like looking into a crystal....and you can even swim in it, if you can deal with the chill....Honestly, I love the east coast, because that's where I grew up, but when it comes to epic blow-your-mind scenery, there's nothing like Northern California. Yosemite is one of the great must do's here too, and a lot of people don't know this but there's actually an awesome hotel in the Yosemite valley, right in the middle of the park. If you get the money(because it's SUPER expensive) that's the place to camp....

Yes I ve been to Tahoe. Its one of the most beautiful places around. Plus I loved the food there, just mindblowing.

Northside is fucking awesome. The cliffs are just great to watch. A drive along the north shore of CA is like driving along a scenic portrait. Specially the sunsets, damn some sight alrite!

Cool, good luck! I just went through it on May 20th... what an ordeal. Once you're at that reception and you're finally celebrating your marriage it's a blast. Better get busy with the planning, since it's in July book everything (DJ, Limo, photographer, cake, caterer) now. I forgot the limo thing and a wek before my wedding EVERYTHING was booked, finally found a friend had a hook-up and got us a badass stretch SUV but it was almost too late. Interestingly enough the limo driver HAD to be out at a certain time because he was working for Ellen Degeneras that night. Once again... GOOD LUCK!

My younger brother just started an internship in Tahoe. He's working as a slots manager at Harrahs & there's a fairly good chance I'll be heading out that way to see him in the not too distant future.

Harrah's is really cool....they have slot machines based on the movie Alien, and the arcade's pretty cool too:) If you bring your wife, you guys should check out the Tahoe Queen...she's a big paddleboat. They have day cruises and tours and it's a lot of fun...
