I've taken some advice from people who I probably shouldn't have and saw that movie, "The Thing"......what a DUMB movie....I was laughing !
I saw "The Innocents".....it was a black and white flick......totally STUPID !
And I'm sorry to offend those who like Friday the 13th......but that stuff isn't scary AT ALL for me.

Can anyone give me a list of REALLY SCARY movies ?!?!

THANKS !!

Alien gave me nightmares my whole life. Every few months I have a dream with one of those things in it to this day....and if that doesn't work for you then watch "Beaches" with Bette Midler and Barbara Hershey....that'll give ya nightmares...

There's no hope...

Obviously you're beyond fun scares, since you think they're dumb (because JC's masterpiece, which I assume you're talking about, is near perfect, for me).

So I guess you need to try some exploitation shock.

Try Last House on the Left, Cannibal Holocaust, Eraserhead, or I Spit On Your Grave.

(If you are, in fact, genuinely searching for a film...)

I don't understand someone's reply ? Market research ?
I am new to horror.com, I just registered today......I came upon it after searching google. Me a kid ?? I'm a 29 year old female......nice try though.

No really, I'm looking for truly scary movies......I want to start a collection and need either great classics, (must be comparable to Exorcist) or newer stuff. Maybe along the lines of Hostel.....anyone see that by the way ?

Calm down a little bit. They give everyone that's new a hard time....most of the n00bs anyways.

As far as scary movies, I found the movie Deadbirds scary for some reason. That's the only movie that has ever really creeped me out. But I have yet to have any nightmares because of a movie. If you need anymore help, just ask. :)

By the way, you asked where we're from. I'm in Georgia in the states. I can't wait to move....

And Hostel was a good storyline and all, but too much uneeded and unwanted gore and nudity plauged the film to make it anything worth while. I didn't care for it so much.

My problem with Hostel is that I really wanted some of that "too much gore" at least SOMEWHERE in the first 45 minutes (no one even tripped, got a paper cut, got poked in the eye or stubbed a toe:rolleyes: )...And, as far as I'm concerned, the film NEEDED it...

As for the question in this thread...Ever heard of a movie called 'Night Of The Living Dead'?...Oh...It's in black and white (the original)...So...You may not like it...

There's really no way to say what the scariest movie, or even a scary movie, is. Peoples fears and what affects them differ so much from person to person. I never found Exorcist all that frightening. Great story, and a few creepy moments definately. I think Exorcist III is one of the creepiest movies ever. For a lot of people, it's too dialogue driven. I really don't like having everything in my face, though.

Some of it WAS needed. When I mean the "unneeded", I mean the gore in it that did nothing either way to improve the film or not.

Example:
When it shows blood all over the floor with no apparent reason for it being there. Just a huge puddle of blood, but no ones been killed there.

The gore in Hostel just didn't feel right for some reason. It was different than other gore films. It just felt out of place in that paticular title for some reason. And maybe it's just because the over amount of nudity in it.

The nudity really downgraded the film IMO. That's why the gore seemed pointless I think. It was porno with blood. Not that that's a bad thing *smirks showing teeth*, but the gore paired with the porn just doesn't work.

Thanks guys.....alot of great films I'll check out.

I must say though, many so-called scary movies are just so boring for me.
Let's take "The Thing" for example.....it really is so silly watching it. (No offense to those who like it)
I mean think about it.....can that crap really EVER happen ??
What scares the hell out of me is the slight possibility that something in the movie could possibly be true, or exist.
Good example.....The Exorcist......well, maybe not to that extent.....but there have been quite a few reported cases of demonic possession or whatever you'd like to call it.
And Pope John Paul has acutally performed some exorcisms himself in Europe.
Also, I don't like when there is a so much nudity in a horror flick......I say just leave that crap out. (That's what porn is for).

So now that you've got a feel for what kind of flicks I prefer, maybe you guys have some more suggestions.

I'm telling you, nothing like watching a horror flick on a first date. I can tell right away if the guy is a wuss or not !!!

VampiricClown
05-22-2006, 07:57 PM
Haha, well, you won't find too many wussies here. I've yet to find a horror movie that's really scared the hell out of me.

The Thing....I personally found it boring. Both of them actually.

About The Exorcist, I've not seen this movie yet. But I'm not a believer of all the demon stories. And for some reason, religious horror films do not really interest me.

Well, you're trying way to hard, and have no appreciation for film as an art medium. There's my report.

You're hopeless, quite frankly.

And as to your comment about The Thing being dumb because of it being unrealistic, I believe much more in the possibility of life forms on other plantes than I do of a satanic possesion. So I think The Thing is just as "realistic" as The Exorcist.

However. I don't rely on a movie, especially horror, to be realistic, or my tolerance for movies would be as low as yours. Thank God for that.

Imagination is lost; I swear to God.

This pisses me the fuck off............I came here to discuss horror flicks......good, bad or okay......I'm giving my opinion and you don't like it ?!?

Then lick my twat bitches.......

There, I can be just as childish as you.

Ok, first of all, fuck you.

Now that that's off my chest:

The quote you justtore apart was by a member named Bloodrayne, who has done nothing to you and has said nothing about you. So leave her out of this and quote something relevant.

Second off, you came here looking for advice, and everytime someone gives it to you, you say "that sucked, but I like the Exorcist."

So why don't you go watch The Exorcist 100 times in a row and worship its awesomeness, because obviously no movie can touch it.

Hey bitches.......

I'm Italian and proud......and if someone has a problem with that........then we have a problem here don't we.

Like I said dirtbags, I came here with good intensions.

When someone says something nice.......I will reciprocate.
Don't like it.....then kick me the fuck off.

I'll try to pick up the broken pieces of my heart.........bitches.

First of all..........I have a right to say, 'that sucked', or 'that was great'.
You want to make peace and talk about movies then go ahead.........that's why I came here if someone read my FIRST post.

I'm just looking for a place to talk about horror flicks.......I am obviously not a pro like all of you.......I am but a mere ignorant Italian mafioso who likes to watch horror.

Now is that such a bad thing ? I think not.

Perhaps our definition of discussion differs. I (and I feel safe speaking for quite a few other people here) see a discussion as an exchanging of detailed points of view on topics.

The Shining............... (HATED IT)
The Ring.................... (STINKS)
Frankenstein (1931)..........(STINKS)
Carrie.....................(Girls in my highschool were more nuts !)
Jaws...................... (The original not bad......)
The Birds................. (Sure, birds are scary.....LOL ?!?!?!)
Alien.................... (DUMB)
Candyman.................. (STINKS)
Poltergeist...... (Watch out for Television sets.....give me a break.)
The Haunting(1963)........... (STINKS)
The Innocents(1961)........... (CRAP)
Ju-On: The Grudge............ (STUPID)

These don't seem like discussions to me. They seem like someone coming to a horror forum and trashing on what a lot of horror freaks hold dear as some of the greatest horror movies of all time.

Why don't you like 'The Shining'? Acting? Unoriginal story? Bad directorial style? It's hard for us to have a discussion or let you know our honest opinions about Candyman when your 'discussion' of it is that it 'STINKS.'

I loved Candyman for several reasons. I thought the story was a cool twist on the old Bloody Mary legend. The blood/gore was ample. I thought Tony Todd was excellent. Why didn't you like it? All that saying 'STINKS' tells me is perhaps the Blockbuster copy you rented had been urinated on by the previous renters pet Mexican Hairless.

Ooo I can't resist another comment, and since she took a dig at Rayne who is a friend and a moderator, I think it should be okay.

Remember, my HDC companions that this flaming piece of shit is a "gorgeous, private Italian citizen," or so she informed us at least 6 squillion times. So does that mean that, perhaps the person better to deal with this aggrivating ill tempered disrectful hyper active, etc, little ignorant person is Stubborn, one hot mamma of a Southern Pacific private citizen, a person exotic enough to match the "Italian Private citizen schtick. Perhaps we should have a really annoying "gorgeous American private citizen (me) answer to her...can I say stupid?...what the hell? stupid ramblings?

In any event, Jenfra, if that is your name, and I hope it's not, because it's the worst bloody name I've ever heard, go away before somebody drops a house on you. It happened to my friend's sister and I hear it's really a bad way to go.

We didn't invite you here, and in fact, if you read the forum rules as posted by the moderators, you don't have a right to come to this forum and randomly call members "twats" "bitches" "dirtbags" etc etc, unless you're Cheebacheeba, and that's because we love him. We don't love you. At all. Not even a little. We don't even like you.

So... *pulls out magic wand and waves it a few times drama faces thingies appear in the air*

I henceforth do banish you to the nether realms in the name of every good horror film ever made and in the name of the movie The Gate but not The Gate II, because that was too much of a bad thing. BEGONE!!!!

I love the movie Bulletproof...But, that doesn't make me a comedy fan...an Action fan...Or an Adam Sandler fan......Know what I mean?

I told you what I liked and Exorcist was up there for me......I am new to this horror shit and would of liked some adviceI think some were offended because you shot down all of their 'advice'...Which probably caused them to question, "Well, why did you ask then?"...

Liking ONE movie of any genre, does not necessarily make someone a fan of that genre...

It's kinda like when someone hears ONE song by Slipknot, then calls themselves a 'metalhead', joins a 'metal forum' then tells the members at that forum "I love metal, I wanna know what YOUR favorite metal bands are, But I HATE (or have never even heard of) Megadeth, In Flames, Children of Bodom, Pig Destroyer, Decapitated, Dimmu Borgir, Horse The Band, Lamb Of God, Mastadon, Iron Maiden, Testament, Slayer, Pantera, Kreator, Nuclear Assault, Dark Angel, Death Angel, Darkthrone, Dark Tranquillity, Darkseed, Dark Funeral, Thy Serpent, Evenfall, Immortal, Burzum, Emperor, Cradle Of Filth, Dimmu Borgir, Annihilator, Anthrax, Morbid Angel, Sentenced, Running Wild, Helloween, Jag Panzer, Hammerfall, Swallow The Sun, Skid Row, Pegazus, Dying Fetus, Old Man's Child, Nightwish, Nile, Opeth, Iced Earth, etcetera"...Then when people respond to your request, you tell them "All of the ones you guys like are stupid, they suck, etcetera"...I wonder how the members of your new 'metal forum' would react?.....See?

I love horrorcore and death rap bands. ICP, Twiztid and Anthrax are on top of my list.

In my room is really cool. My most favorite song is Under The Moon. Its an entire story inside a song, and its easily the most touching ICP track yet...

a mix of both actually...POed and feeling like you lost something at the end...

yea I know what you mean there...it fits em alrite...

"I sit here in my cell and the walls are made of stone,
I justified your pain but now I sit alone,
I write another letter I write one everyday,
I never got a letter back I write em anyway,
I try to call collect- your number has been changed,
Im starin at the light bulb and I start to feel deranged,
You never came to visit me I sit facin the glass,
Noones on the other side and now its in the past,
My head is always spinnin Im poundin on the wall,
I feel like Im forgotten no sign of you at all..."

"I curl up in the corner my body will corrode,
"My teeth are turning into dust skin is growing mold,
"Im starin out the window of my eternal doom,
"I know that you are out there...
Somewhere underneath the moon..."

"Many many years many more to go,
Does she still remember? God He only knows!
I now become a savage, they chain me to a wall,
I still can see your body, I still can hear ya call,
Im nothin but a maggot, Im locked away and lost,
The world that doesnt want me, my dignity is tossed,
And to the girl for who I feel this doom
Look here...fuck you and the moon!"

Damn I love it...

If gas prices weren't so ridiculous, I'd soooo be up there! We could have homeade fried chicken, some sort of fruity dessert, iced tea...*smacks herself*

When the Exorcist came out people left the theatre they were so frightened. It was a grand horror film for it's time. It deserves it's place.
