If you're talking easy snacks,

Cheese + tomato sandwiches, with pepper...hell yeah...

Cadbury mint chop chocolate

Smoked salmon, avocado, cream cheese, alfalfa sprouts, cheese, capers, capsicum, that kinda setup with plain or cracked pepper crispbreads/crackers.

Flavoured crackers, we have some called "shapes" here, yknow, bbq flavour and the like.

Asian brand crispy seaweed crackers and tuna

and....my garlic sauce on just about anything.

Fruit here and there, bananas, mango, tangello, pomello, grapefruit, white peaches, green apples, cherries, that kinda stuff periodically, I make a pretty nice fruit salad dressing to go on it.

If you've got a little more time,
Apple fritters with creme anglais, thai fish cakes, creme caramel'
fetta & aspagagus baked tartlets, or sometimes I make like flatbread pizzas, those are good...this stuffs a bit more complex and/or time consuming to do, but yknow, good shit.

Green olives are good, Entity. Do you ever get them from a Mediteranean deli of some sort with the pit still in them? Like... I mean semi fresh olives? Utterly to die for!!

Crackers...
There are some crackers that I really really like, because of their flavor that exists just on their own, either simple flavor or a blend of their baked in spices.

Then their are some crackers that you absolutely have to have with cheese to mask the flavor of the cracker. You guys know what I'm talking about? It's the crackers that people buy, but you never see them eating that cracker by itself?

I was telling The STE the other night what Mitch Hedgberg once said about crackers (paraphrase): I like crackers. On the back of the box it tells you that you can put ham and cheese on the crackers. You can even put peanut butter on the crackers. I just like crackers, not little tiny edible plates.

It's the same with caviar and crackers (although I doubt that most people who eat caviar would call them crackers). You have the crackers to mask the flavor of the caviar or vice versa.

My dad is into Biblical food because he's a freak. (He should really be into like Native American food considering THOSE ARE HIS ANCESTORS!!!) anyway, there's a section in one of grocery stores that caters to Biblical food theory shit. They had some good crackers, and I'm not just talking matza (sp) crackers either.

Hmmm... I may have typed the longest piece ever written on crackers. That, my friends, is really really sad, and I am ashamed.

boston baked beans, I believe I mentioned them before and Bloodrayne said something about them, I am talking about the candy type they used to sell in vending machines long ago, I have trouble finding these nowadays! (HEY: they used to sell ALL KINDS of good things in vending machines back in the day. And n0w? nothing!!!!!!!!!!!! exceptp the occasional sticky frog toy or something.)

and also, taquitos or anything made of corn and friied--corn dogs, etc.--because that sweet fried corn smell reminds me of carnivals. did you ever throw the ping pong bals into the fishtanks at the carnvial to get the fish, and then you go home with the plastic bag with a little fish in it? member that? they styill do that? those poor little things

oh yea I forgot to mention, in cracker news, THE INCREDIBLE MELTING MAN features a bizarre conversation about crackers. This guy is sent out to find the melting man (whose name is "Steve") before he kills more people, etc. He goes home after a long day of melting man hunting, and makes some clam chowder on the stove. Then he burns himself on the stove and screams "Aaatchka!!" and then his wife comes home. He tells his wife, "Steve's missing!" and she says OH MY GOD. And then he looks up from his soup and says, "Did you get some crackers? We ran out of crackers and I need crackers for my soup" and she says "But what about Steve? I went to the store but it wasn't on the list...you should have written it down etc." and he looks deranged and says "So.......................you didn't get any crackers?" and she says "Ted, STEVE!" and he looks even weirder and says "Steve? I've gotta go out and FIND steve."

I love these weird movies. Conversations about crackers in a gory horror movie. Sheesh! CRACKERS of all things.

If I were a fairy godmother I would start with crackers. I would turn a cracker into a pumpkin and the pumpkin into a coach.

It's funny because "cracker" is also a racial slur for white people, and I don't understand why. But this isn't the place for that.

I know these are horribly bad for your teeth, but skittles, startburst, gummy bears, and other chewy fruity chewy candies are wonderful for late night readings. I love to have them and a sprite while I'm up late and, as I said, reading.

Does anyone remember Now n' Laters? They were those chewy candies that could pull adult teeth right out of your skull? They were great.

Candy is a horrible snack, but sometimes, you just have to.

ooh and nerds...

Healthy Heather does recognize that baby carrots are better and sweeter.

FRESH hummos with FRESH toasted pita bread, ohhhhhh uhhhhh....

There was this place once, I am in another city now, but this place used to be down the street from me. And they would puree their hummos until it was extra-smooth and creamy with the tahini and the diced parsley on top, and oh my GOD, I never had it better since, all other places have paled in comparison, this was the shit, I'm telling youuuuUUUUU!

^^Okay, explain, because I've never heard of these things.
They're pretty good, very refreshing.
Get yourself some ricepaper wraps, they go around it...you need to soak them in water to make them malleable.
You'll also need vermicelli, which you should pre-boil.
There's a lot of different recipes for these things, but as I know them, or how I would make them is
Lay out your wet ricepaper, about a third of the way up stack your ingredients neatly.
1/3 of the overall filling should be the vermicelli, not more.
Julienned or shaved carrots, finely sliced red chilli, finely sliced spring onion, VERY finely julienned ginger, bean sprouts, spearmint or vietnamese mint leaves, Cooked & shelled prawns (your choice how many per wrap), crushed peanuts.

Wrap it up, seal with water, serve cold, with satay sauce, or a mixture of lemon juice, soy sauce, peanut oil, chilli, garlic, lime zest.

Theres hundereds of variations online, look it up if in doubt.

FM2, agread on the hummos...however the fuck you spell it, it's the shit.

Ah, now I understand, and that does sound really good to have on a hot day. Very refreshing, as you say. I might substitute the onions with cucumbers. I loooove cucumbers. Prawns = shrimp?

Hummus is good, especially when the Mediterranean cook likes to experiment using curry or chili or any manner of spice blends to tantalize the palate.

I've been eating crushed ice the last couple of days. Is there some kind of vitamin deficiency that makes a person crave ice??
