I've searched the 'net and this forum as well, but I still have no clue what this movie is called. It came out in theaters sometime in the last couple of years, and I really thought it came out last year. The only thing I remember from the preview is a man who sees his father walking around, but his father is supposed to be dead. I think the whole advertised plot was something about people seeing dead loved ones. There may have been a clip of conversation where the character says, "I saw my dad today," and his friend says, "I thought your dad was dead," to which the character replies, "He is." Anybody have a clue? I've been everywhere, looking at lists and lists of movies from the last few years.

Thanks,
flyingmouse77

That line has a familiar ring to it.....maybe "Bringing Out the Dead"(1999).

No, that's not it. :( The bad thing is, I've probably even seen the movie and still can't remember it. I did remember "Bringing Out the Dead" once I clicked your link. Thanks for trying!

Let's get the obvious out of the way first:

It's not The Sixth Sense, right?

No, definitely not The Sixth Sense. That comes up a lot when I do searches involving dead people being seen, but this movie was more recent. I also considered White Noise, which I know I've seen, but I don't think that's it either. I've been trying to check the lists of horror movies for every year starting in 2003. I'm almost positive I saw the preview in 2004 or 2005, but I'm not having any luck with those years. I've found lists of very familiar movies for that time period, most of which I've seen, but I still can't seem to find this one. :(

Is it an American movie?

I think it's American. At least the actors I remember seeing didn't have accents and sounded American, but other than that I don't know.

I know itīs not a dad, but could it be "The forgotten"?

Not that one either. I just went through About.com's list of Hollywood movies for 2003, 2004, and 2005, and didn't find it. *sigh* I think I'm going to have to stop searching and hope that either someone here knows what I'm talking about, or that I'll remember something else that will help me find it.

I remember the movie you're describing being advertised about two years ago. It looked pretty interesting. I just don't remember what the title was....

Your describtion just..... Doesnīt sound very scary. Sounds more like a drama... starring Kevin Costner..

As I recall, no, it was definitely not sold as a horror movie. Seemed like a pretty realistic flick about seeing dead loved ones, people coming back because they have "unfinished business," that sort of thing.

Ironically, this realistic take on the subject matter was what made the flick seem spooky to me.

I see your point. It's kind of like trying to describe a dream to someone, and it's so easy to see it in your head, but not so easy to translate into words. As for the Kevin Costner thing, as best I remember, the actors didn't look at all familiar. If I could remember one, maybe I could find the movie that way. I'm really wondering if maybe it was something really obscure, and not produced in America. I mean, I think I've honestly looked at every single movie that appeared in theaters in the past three years, and I haven't found it. I've watched trailers of all the likely suspects, but still nothing. I did come across two movies that I'd missed seeing, Butterfly Effect and Godsend, and I'm thinking this mystery movie was advertised around the same time period. But as far as I can tell, what I'm thinking of isn't one of those movies.

The movie sounds identical to Stay, with Ryan Gosling and Ewan McGregor.

I just looked the film up and it looks really interesting and complex. No wonder they had trouble selling it.....it looks pretty artsy.

Not necessarily. I used to be a devoted forum-er, but I got tired of all the petty crap that goes on at most places. So I don't fully participate anywhere now. Having said that, this place does seem really, really cool, and I'm going to look around. Maybe you'll see me around in a few topics. Thanks for making me feel so welcome!!:)

You'll run into petty crap here, too. But if you wait it out it'll go away.
