Well, no one has mentioned this movie so I thought I'd see what you guys think about it. If you don't know what I'm talking about it's the new vampire flick starring Hugh Jackman as Van Helsing and he battles more than just vamps. The Wolfman and Frankenstein are supposed to make an appearance as well.

I've read a bit about it and it sounds good to me. A little off point but have you ever seen the anime "Hellsing"? Its really kickass Dracula as a paranormal special agent, good stuff.

I haven't seen that anime yet, but I've heard good things.

Yeah, Jackman is probably reason enough to see the film.

taken from an interview of beckensate on comingsoon.net

"It was really fun. I mean, it's a romp. ['Underworld'] is much more of a serious action thriller thing. But ['Van Helsing'] is more of a family adventure romp. Very sort of high romantic, it looks like Hugh (Jackman) and I are competing for the longest hair extensions."

the words family andventure and romp do not belong in a horror movie.

I'll keep an open mind until I see it.

family adventure romp? you're absolutely right...those words don't belong in horror, nor do they belong in a story about Van Helsing....he hunts and kills vampires! blood and gore! or it's gonna be a bore.

I don't think you're going to get blood and gore though. I'm pretty sure it's pg-13.

great! PG-13 huh?...in my opininon a movie about Helsing needs to be rated R, maybe even NC-17...with lots of blood, gore, decapitations, mutalations...etc....

I agree whole-heartedly, but I think they are trying to get the youngsters in the theater too. The lower rating you have, the more money you have access to. It sucks.

The anime didnt do it for me at all. The idea of a Jazzy, Upbeat, cheerfull Dracula using human made guns as weapons seems sorta off to me. Dracula should have certain integrity and honor about him i think. Just my 0.02

Don't remind me of the anime, my ex beau lives in Yorkshire. I shipped him the box set for his birthday...two days later we split and I was like, I wasted 100 quid on you. Asshole.

I do want to see the movie, however.

Van Helsing is Universal's resurrection of the classic monsters in one movie. Dracula, Frankenstein's Monster and The Wolf Man haven't been seen together "officially" since 1948's Abbott & Costello Meet Frankenstein.

I would imagine that Universal, in their attempt to revitalize the franchise, would want to make it appealing to a wide range, especially younger viewers. I suspect the rating to be no worse than PG-13.

Well, it's up. And to tell you the truth, it didn't do that much for me.
