well, enjoy isn't the word I'd use, but it is a hell of a movie

I'll rent it, I already know exactly what happens.

oh, you got it spoiled for you? Bummer.

Yeah, it's apparently not scary.

The STE
04-30-2006, 03:48 PM
well, no, nor does it want to be. That's like saying something like Last House on the Left isn't scary. It's fucking intense, but it's not scary.

So, it's sort of like Red Eye? In a way?

The STE
04-30-2006, 03:52 PM
I haven't seen Red Eye so I can't really say. It's kindof like Audition, but the first 90 minutes are condensed into just the first act, and the rest of the movie is the torture bondange and mindgames stuff

Posher778
04-30-2006, 03:59 PM
Oh, sounds weird then, how long is if fully?

The STE

almost 2 hours

Great film! She's the kinda hard candy I wouldn't mind sucking on! The torture scenes are more psychological than anything. The film really investigates the machinations of the internet pedophile seduction game.

SPOILER*************

Just saw it tonight... Even though the movie seemed to drag at times, it definitely made me cringe and re-adjust myself watching it. That's just so wrong what she did! It's a good movie but not one of the best movies that I seen this year. I give it a 7.5 out of 10.

.the movie reminded me of Misery (1990) ...I think Hard Candy is a little overrated..I expected more after the trailer...

the movie was good but I wouldnt watch it again. I expected it to be much better but the movie moved at a snail's pace at times.

I couldn't reccomend this movie more. I've asked everyone I know to watch it. It's not the best movie of the year, but I believe it's one of them. Really well done; and the acting is just brilliant. Some may not like the pace, but its set up well. Its affective.

they arent anything alike in the least other that the fact that a female has a male prisoner.

each movie was paced differently - the motives of the females were completely different. they handled their issues differently.
the style of direction/acting/ etc was completely different.

its like saying platoon reminded you of goodfellas because someone shot a guy in each film

Excellent movie. it might be slow, but it more than makes up for it with its psychological side. And the teen girl (can't remember her name) offers a fantastic performance.

What are you talking about?

Neither features spaceships, machine guns or anything to do with Chinese-motif bathrobes whatsoever - that's three things the two movies have in common, and I'm sure you can hunt for more.

The movie isn't about changing his mind, or making him realize what he's done wrong. She even says it's not. Her only job here to to punish him. Not help him.

you know - you can draw comparrisons and find links between any 2 films no matter how unseemingly related they are.

personally - given the mood and direction of either film .. i cant see it even if i try.

they seem the same to you - then i guess thats the way it is for you.

i'm conceding on this one as i always draw comparrisons between donnie darko and napoleon dynamite (as one being the dark side of the other)

She never tried to do that. She just made him realize what he did was terrible and that he deserved to be punished.

I took it more as...

SPOILERS GALORE IN THIS THREAD SO I'LL ALERT YOU NOW IF YOU HAVEN'T YET REALIZED.

.
.
.

"I don't want your sorries, your pleas for forgiveness, or your sayings that you'll change. I don't fucking care about that. You did what you did, and there's nothing you can do to change it."

I felt that sort of mentality. I can't argue whether it's like Misery because I haven't seen Misery. But I didn't get the sense she was trying to persuade him that it was wrong. She was simply punishing him; her goal wasn't to get him to say he was sorry, or to realize it was wrong. She just wanted to, well, make him pay.

which was kind of obvious. so what's the whole point of this discussion. the mind fuck is not in getting to see what we think is the bad guy, change his mind and become repentant, but to see this little girl basically take an evil turn. his previous actions are only questioned by her, the audience in turn is questioning this girl's actions.

are you sure you know what the meaning of the word framed means, cause what you posted implyed a trick or dupe, not a frame.

these are basic explanations,

frame: to make it look like or seem that some one who is not at fault is at fault.

trick: to mislead or fool.

and the movie isnt my thing but i thought it was alright.

also when you said it reminded you of misery did you mean in story or something you saw just made you think of misery, because ive watched a film and then thought about/ remebered somthing from a totaly different( absolutly nothing to do with each other) film.

..in the consept......somebody here wants it to look like I think it is a clone...that have I never said...only some alikness in the consept of both movies

another example of this are "Secret Window" (2004) and "Hide and Seek" (2005)
