View Full Version : The "rate this band" game

noctuary

Here's a very simple idea for a game, so I hope everyone has fun with it. The rules are easy: just name a band, and the next person to reply gives it a rating of 1-10. Don't complain if someone bashes your favorite band! Here we go, I'll start it off.

I saw ATDI play a few times, but I still think Mars Volta is better, and I don't like either one of them too much.

I wouldn't say they were overrated, I just didn't care for ATDI's style too much. I think it was mainly the guy's voice that grated on my nerves.

Well, that's just, like, your opinion, man.

Heh heh. I do not like the Pistols at all, but you know, to each his own. I understand their importance as a band, but their music has always seemed lackluster to me. For first wave Britpunk, the Damned and the Buzzcocks do it much better, for me.

I can't deny that John Lydon, at least, is talented, though. Public Image Ltd. were a great band.

ps .. i'm a huge Buzzcocks fan - but there is no way of comparing the 2 bands - they each had their own unique energy.

Yep. Should be easy enough to order in. Most of the big stores over here carry their stuff. There's some nifty coloured vinyl editions that were brought out not to long ago if your down with spining the black circle.

IMO vocals are the most important part of a song, so intrumental stuff doesnt really do it for me. Arena rock served them well.... they never pulled off the goth thing for me. Electric is a pretty cool underated rock album of the era, and another Rick Rubin produced gem.

I give the Cocteau Twins a 4 never was really down with them but heard they were pretty dop live from a few people I know.

Deep Purple: 5/10

I never really saw the appeal of these guys. They just seem very generic to me.

In keeping with the classic/prog theme:

Genesis (Peter Gabriel era)

Oh, call me jerk but these guys always were too much for me...but I respect what they do (only with P. Gabriel) so 5/10

i'd have given these guys a 20/10

always were and always will be one of my all time faves (peter gabriel era only)

although trick of the tail is a very good album and the next couple after that were passable.
