View Full Version : A beginning is a very delicate time

Hi there,

I have just registered, and I am in the strange and currently wet land of Scotland, land of the wee dancing sprites. Or so fans of Little Britain would have you believe. I started with Doctor Who in black & white (behind sofa), and it went downhill from there.

I have never laughed as hard as I did when I first saw Evil Dead II, and I am a big fan of the original Alien film, H R Geiger and the first Creep Show. It is my personal goal in life to have the Hallmark Channel consigned to deep space.

I don't dress in black all the time, don't have extended teeth (although the real one's are a tad vampish), and don't take myself seriously. Horror films started like pulp fiction, so that's pretty much how I view the whole genre. It's about pace, timing, atmosphere, but if your head hurts, they've missed the boat.

Have a scary evening,

Angus

Nothing but a smile, but if you have ever been to a Scottish wedding, once the drinking starts, very few women "ask". Glad to here from a fellow Horror fan. It sometimes seems we are the poor relations of our Sci-fi colleagues, but then I don't think we have the same image problem (Simpsons etc etc).

I dress in all black all of the time. Mostly because I'm an Oakland Raiders fan.

Welcome to HDC.

Wasn't intended as a criticism, just that I'm interested in the films, not the trappings. Must confess I don't know much about what I assume is American Football, but that's a failing on my part. Thankyou for the welcome. There is definitely something neat about having a global conversation, especially if it's about horror flicks. Although if you want a real scare, watch the original version of Solaris, which I think was directed by Tarkovsky (apologies for spelling), then watch Mr Cloonies version.

I don't take myself serious either. Infact, now that I think about it, no one else does either **Sheads a single tear**

Welcome to HDC Angus

I believe not taking yourself seriously, probably starts with a realisation that no-one else does. Glad to be a member, so to speak. You can do your own jokes. Fan of Silent Hill 1/2/3/4 by any chance ?

Got all but the 1st one. My fave was Silent Hill 4: The Room. Slightly underated if you ask me. I really enjoyed the game but it got some bad press. Never completed it tho - Did the dangerous thing of buying another game and not going back to it after...Shame on me.

What did you think of SH4?

(1) I liked SH4, but as with previous versions, weird as it was, the game control system was rubbish. Managed to get most of the way through the game, but once the flat got possessed, you ended up getting chased to, and from both the real, and demonic worlds, so I eventually gave up due to mental fatigue, and RSI.

(2) Nick the Horror fan, be careful what you wish for.

I figure if they can ever combine the gaming controls from Resident Evil 4 (which is ace), and the weirdness of Silent Hill, demand for psychiatric day care should rocket.

It's mad Angus McMad here,

As I work, I am returning to find more than one posting, but find if the sender is offline, there is no individual "reply" button, which would introduce a degree of sense into the flow of comments. Am I just intellectually challenged, or is there a massive button with "reply" written on it somewhere else, or do I double right click drag copy paste etc etc ?

Anyway, Twin Peaks rules.

Hi,

I'm Angus, which is my real name, not one I aquired from a Horror flick, rock band, or breed of cattle. I have also tried other forums, and I've had more luck talking to furniture. I only joined 48 hours ago, and I've already had half a dozen welcomes/replies, so someone out there, big brother perhaps (pre Devina McColl), is watching.

I like films like Evil Dead II (number I failed the PC test with the rape scene, number III exchanged mild slapstick mixed with black humour, for full on slapstick and childrens TV humour), any of the old black & white classics, really any film which is -

(a) Hitchcock approach, tiny glimpses of creatures allowing the imagination to run wild, or failing that
(b) Full on, with bitey things and blood everywhere. A film without a monster, is just product placement.

Hope you have as much success with your postings. Spooky greetings from the land of superstition.

Angus.

I have a question for YOU, Anus.

Do you even have the slightest interest in horror movies?
