I wasn't quite sure where to post this, as I know there are funny horror movies before 1970...
What are your favorite funny horror movies? Or something you rented and weren't sure about but then loved it because it was so funny?
Two of my faves are Meet the Feebles and Undead (2005). I was pleasantly surprised by Undead, It ended up in my netflix queue because I thought it was something else. I expected to fall asleep during it but it was funny enough to make it ok. I also got a kick out of the Killer Condom.

A nice little surprise for me was Dead and Breakfast. I didn't really expect much but got a great comedy zombie romp that was a ton of fun. I hated Undead though...

It's an obvious choice, but I have to mention Evil Dead 2:D
Dead and Breakfast was very good as well, nice choice.

Still waiting to see slither.
Let's see, a short list of some of my favorites (some may be pushing it as horror comedy but oh well this is my list):
Beetlejuice

Ghostbusters (Ok so it's WAY more comedy than horror heh.)
Rocky Horror Picture Show
Braindead/Dead Alive
Bad Taste
Return of the Living Dead
Lost Boys
Versus
Re-Animator
Idle Hands
From Dusk Til' Dawn
Basketcase, Brain Damage, and Frankenhooker

C.H.U.D.
Gremlins
Killer Klowns from Outer Space
I'm sure there are plenty more too, I feel like I'm forgetting a LOT.

Haha, ah yes. I love that Jim Carry rip-off voice the dad does:
"GOT YAAAAAAAA!"
Haha and when that little boy jumps 10 feet in the air and grabs the doorframe as the dog conveniently rushes past.
If that was real, the dog would have simply jumped up and torn that little fucker's nuts off. :)

I saw Slither and really liked it. It is definitely a horror comedy with some really good gore. I also love the movie Tremors.

Depends on how subtle the humour is. I get really pissed of with intentionally funny horror movies. There needs to be some sort of equaltity with the shocks and laughs. Evil Dead 2 and Re-Aminator are fine examples of this. I used to dig Bad Taste, Braindead and Army of Darkness but now I find these movies annoying because they go out of their way to be funny killing the subtlety that could have worked so well with the dark humour of the jokes. Along with Shaun of the Dead (this flick is cool but really overated because all the recycled ideas) these movies forget about the scares on just go over the top with comedy.
Frank Henenlotter is my favorite director for this sort of shit. WAY more darkly funny than anyone and the depravity of a lot of his work really appeals to my sense of humour. But yeh I'm the kinda cat that laughs my ass off thru Fulci flicks.

its fucking hilarious !
just the insane amounts of blood gushing on ash .. the taunting demon in the cellar, there was a lot of humor .. it wasnt 'seinfeld humor' - but it was damn funny to me.

oh, i must've just thought it as scary. Evil dead was my first demon film after countless funny horrors liek scream and cursed, so it spooked me a bit. Just the "were gonna put you in a cage in hell!" and stuff. I think the last 15 minutes were the best part though, in that house when the blood goes on the movie screen and then he saws everyone to death. But ED2 is obviously made to be hilarious, like with the tapping hand waiting for him to shoot.

Either way, I still think the scream trilogy is the funniest humor horror out there, and it helps when they give the little shout outs to other movies, like the evil dead reference in scream 2, do you know what i'm talking about?

Yeah, in S2 they had the "bruce walks in the room and the camera spins around so you see the whole room and then it comes arouind to him again" reference. Did you catch that? lol
