'lo Everyone,

For years I've been wondering about the title of a horror film that I saw as young child (too young really, I couldn't sleep alone for days after watching it). The only things I remember clearly are:

1. There were two very small, kind of furry, old looking, prunie faced creatures that were living in a house occupied by regular people.

2. They were very sensitive to light, and tried to avoid it at all costs.

3. They was a young woman living in the house who I think was somehow related by blood to the creatures (not 100% sure about that part).

4. The woman tries to save herself by constantly click a camera flash at them, but they eventually drag her way into the bowels of the house.

I've seen this film exactly once my entire life. Anytime I've thought to ask someone about it, all I get are blank stares. I did not imagine this movie!

Any help guys?

I thought it was gremlins, but never mind...

Is this the only reason you joined the forums?

is it Dont be Afraid of the Dark ?

http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0069992/

if so - there have been almost as many people asking about this one - as The Gate

It never occurred to me that my description could be mistaken for "Gremlins". This is actually useful to know. There are no words for the degree to which this surprises me, considering the source.

Anyway, no, it's not Gremlins. This movie is definitely from the late 60's to 70's

As for the rest:

Please cowboy up and do your best to be a man of your word. I'll understand if this isn't possible, but there's reward to be had in the effort. If somehow, you're actually able to do this, I promise to forget that you ever existed.

urgeok: No pics on imdb, but it sounds promising. I'm off to google images to see if it's a match.

Just for my information: People ask about this film a lot? If so, that's pretty funny, because anyone I've ever talked to about it just had absolutely no clue.

urgeok, you are officially the hero of the day!

Thank you so much!;)

Why would you think that? I like horror films as much as anyone else.

Also, from what I can tell, the people who are really inclined to share information are very helpful and generous with their knowledge. For instance, in less than a few hours, I've gotten an answer to a question that's bugged me on and off for years.

Why wouldn't try to benefit from that?

No hard feelings. It's just that we usually get about 10 new members a month who join, ask a question, get it answered and leave forever.

It's kind of like we get raped.

Thanks for not raping us.

I'm the one who should apologies. I just joined the list yesterday, and was immediately put on the defensive for showing my ignorance by daring to ask the same question in two separate forums.

I'll never do that again, ensuring once more that America is safe for democracy!:)

Bottom line, you'll seem me around.

Was the above intended for me? If so, please explain what you're saying; I honestly don't know.

If not, feel free to ignore.

Lovecraft saidIncidentally, I was one who asked about the same film.

It was bugging you to huh? It's amazing how that film really sticks in your memory. Now I gotta go find a copy and see if it's as good as I remember.

Not really you, but you claim that you're sticking around yet the only places you've posted are your threads asking for movie help.

There's a point here?

Well, most people will assume that you only came for help, then you're leaving. Maybe you should post in some other threads?

You really shouldn't concern yourself. Why anything that I do seems to be of any importance, or even begin to matter to you at all just mystifies me. But since your so interested, how about this: I'll mostly read the forums, and only contribute when I either know what I'm talking about (like the people who had the good grace to answer my questions) or when I have a question I'd like answered by anyone who has said info. Otherwise, I'll opt to just keep my mouth shut and mind my own business.

Wow! That actually works out to be pretty good advice in general. Wouldn't you agree?

I think Posher is having a lie down and a nice cup of tea, and a chocolate biscuit.

Mmmmm.... biscuits!

Thanx Darlin', but honestly, it's impossible for me to care less than I do. I just that they were just even slightly more clever. It's like shooting fish in a barrel.

Nice of you to extend a hand though.;)

And in the interest of keeping it (kinda) on topic, you haven't by any chance seen the film I was asking about did you?

Deffinetly "Don't be afraid of the dark". Just watched it. My mom was looking for it awhile back. Also, doesn't it seem like a lot of the people that come here that are looking for a specific movie end up meaning this title or "Night of the Demons"? And if it's in the classic section it's usually "Curse of the Demon". Very strange.

I have it on dvd. PM me if you want to know anything about it. It's still somewhat fresh on my mind.

When I think about it, I'm not surprised that DBAotD is asked about so frequently. To this day, I remember it being just about one of the scariest films I've ever seen. I always chalked that up to having been so young when I saw it, but now, I don't know.

Maybe it really is just that damn frightening.:D

That movie scared me as a kid too.

I saw it for the first time in December. It seemed real Disney like. It wasn't all that scary compared to newer movies. It may be somewhat scary since it was when you saw it as a kid. But, really, it's not bad at all.

Urge...like usual...is on it!

Don't be afraid of the Dark is with out a doubt, the one you're asking about. I have it on DVD and, incidently, was the first movie I asked about when I came to HDC.

A Lorimar Production with Kim Darby, Jim Hutton and William (Uncle Charlie from my three sons fame) Demarest.

the funny thing is how everyone who asked about it had slightly different memories of it...

most people mention the fireplace though ..

and i think it is one people ask about because many saw it when they were young - because it was accessable - on TV.

those were my first exposure to horror as well..

(The Norliss Tapes for one example)
