Well, it's better than House of 1000 Corpus.
Or so they tell me.

I did love The Devil's Rejects, but, like Mothman said, I can't take one's opinion on it if they spell "rejects" wrong.

You would think if you just saw the movie you would be able to spell the title correctly. Sigh. Besides there are already threads on "The Devil's Rejects". It would be great if people used the search button more.

Probably did a search on "devils rejecks" and nothing came up so he figured there wasn't a thread.
"I love this movie but I can't spell it! I love swears!"
If you're happy and you know it say a swear.

as for the film I thought it was kind of like recycled trash. It was recycling different parts of 70's trash/exploitation films and just recycling them. I remember watching it and thinking "I've seen this before... I've seen this before"
That's why we have two different bins, you don't recycle trash. :(
Wasn't horrible, but I didn't like it because I'd seen it all before.

I think RZ set out to make something harking back to the 70's exploitation days. Have I seen it before? Yes... but nothing new in a while. For what it was, a hack and slash exploitation film borrowing VERY heavily from other films, it was good. Although the whole "slap her" scene that he took from Last House on the Left was an eye roller.

Yeah, I'd be lying if I didn't physically roll my eyes when I saw that part.

i felt that 1000 corpses was an homage to TCM, Hills, etc .. gonzo films i loved.
rejects was an homage to last house on the left, i spit on your grave ... films i didnt love...

I think this film would be %100 perfect if they had left out the awkward scene in that hotel. really unnerving and kinda messed it up, but other than that, fucking bad ass film.

But that's the thing- that was the point!
The scene was, like urge said, a homage to LHOTL, meant to just unnerve and disturb the audience- to make them feel uncomfortable.
I like that. It's a horrible but very affective emotion. Devil's Rejects was a great film, in my opinion.

but rob could have done without it. the scene where he just fucking murders the shit out of those two in the desert was disturbing enough as it is. i just hate watching that scene, because whenever i am, one of my friends just so happens to walk in on it and go "what the fuck are you watching?"

I still think that he crossed the line between paying homage to something and just completely ripping it off a few times.

i had no problem with him ripping off TCM ..
he had fun with it .. went completely hyper ... somehow it worked for me because i got exactly where he was coming from ..
with DR i just didnt like the place where he was coming from at all ..

I really enjoyed Ho1KC, but I still havent got around to seeing this one, for the same reason I haent seen the movies that it's a hommage to like LHOTL: Not my idea of entertainment. I'll probably rent it someday, but Im not planning to rush.

Rob Zombie has done a very good job of developing the characters. The Rejects are doing some pretty nasty things but at the end of the film I kinda found myself routing for them and not the cops. It's really well made in my opinion.

I thought this was a great movie. I enjoyed it much more than House of 1000 Corpses.
A fun, action horror
