View Full Version : So what comics would you like to see made into films?

The topic says it all. I'd like to see films made out of Transmetropolitan (one of the best comics of recent years, check it out if you haven't already), Blue Monday, and of course, The Sandman. Of course, none of these are very likely. Due to the length and complexity of the stories (especially Sandman) they'd have to make a series of three hour movies like Lord of the Rings. It would still be pretty cool to see though.

Batman - The Killing Joke
Blood and water
Y - The last man, in 3 parts.
The walking dead
A GOOD, dark wolverine movie
Preacher
Blood and Shadows
House of Secrets
Girls
Warren Ellis's Scars
The 30 days of night series would be cool if done properly, each series would work as a movie. I think they're already doing the first one....could be ok.
And I think 100 Bullets would be good...but it'd have to be more of a series.
Samurai - Heaven and Earth would be excellent, but I doubt it'll ever happen, as a film coming out called "the promise" seems to have more or less the same premise.

That was a amazing comic. Wish I still had it.
I'd like to see Peter Bagge's comics Hate made into a film. An animated flick of this would be great.

If you get a soulseek or dc++ account, I can send it across, or I could just email it...if you don't mind reading it on your pc that is. I agree on your views of the comic, especially the conversation towards the end...definitive shit.
I got a few issues of hate, seems a little like mad magazine from what I've read so far.

Ya think? I thought it was more like the late 60s underground comix (think Rip Off Press/Robert Crumb) done grunge style.
I'll keep hunting for The Killing Joke I'd rather have the real thing, cheers for the offer tho dude.

I didn't like zero girl much....it WAS interesting, but one of those ocmics that yknow...you pick up, realise it's all good, but you just don't like it? anyways...
Stray Bullets, I think would work better as an animated series, for some reason.

I have the entire series on pc, but I've only read issue 1 so far.
It's scary...it has an interesting villain...the setting of the first issue is in an interesting time. GREAT dialogue and a driven main character, completely twisted shit...the razor god looks fucking brilliant, and yeah....I just think it would work SO well for film, in fact, probably better than most other horror comics. I mean shit...just LOOK at him...perfection.

If there's any comic that could possibly be turned in to a movie as awesome as Sin City, it's Preacher!
Preacher is hands down the most awesome comic book ever written but I think it'd work better as an HBO mini-series or something!
It'd be so awesome to see The Saint of Killer son the big screen though....
Man, Preacher rules. Anyone who hasnt read it, get off your ass and go do it.

Probably gonna get slated for this but I didn't like the Sin City film. Didn't even know it was a comic book series.

Wait.
You liked Preacher, you're in to comic books, but you didn't know Sin City was a comic series?
Dammmmn. No wonder you couldn't appreciate as much as you should have. Read the comics first and then just marvel in how great of a job Robert Rodriguez did in keeping it truely 'Frank Millers Sin City' and not 'Robert Rodriguezs Sin City'. That movie is almost just like watching one of the most awesome comic books come to life.

Nah man. You got some wires crossed. I didn't even know Preacher was a comic. (waits for a smack round the head)
Called myself Preacher cos its the name of a character out of a film I like.
Have to admit....I did like the Bruce Willis part of Sin City.

"Well done" is the operative phrase here.I too would luv to see a very good to excellent "Surfer" adaptation. The technology is finally here to make it possible,it can be done.
I would like to imagine someone like Luc Besson or Peter Jackson at the helm and a kick-ass actor as the title character.
.......To me my board!

i dont know about luc besson .. he's a little too slick and loose these days ..
silver surfer has a more trippy cerebral bent to it - i dont think besson could handle it ..
i could see jackson .. although he'd want to put his own spin on it.
maybe another one for raimi ? he understands comics.

^^ Definatley a job for Raimi especially because of what he did in Darkman. Peter Jackson would fuck it up I reckon (not to mention make it WAY to long).

New addition: Black Gas, a relatively new horror title by Warren Ellis. I'd highly reccomend taking a look (as I would MOST of Ellis' stuff), see if you agree.
Zombies, but not...strange, scary title, seems like it'd be PERFECT for film.

Evil Ernie, the Lady Death movie doesn't count.
a tight, gritty and faithful adaptation of Dark Knight Returns - that would RULE!

Maybe it's just me, but I think the Dark Knight Returns was a little overated. I mean it was interesting, I just don't think it was the brilliant masterpeice that many people make it out to be...I have a feeling a lot of people gave this one more credit than it deserved on account of who wrote it.
The sequel to THAT? wow...what a peice of shit.
Elseworlds...etc...from DC has much better stuff set in past, present and future to work with, IMO.
Speaking of future settings, I thought the "Last Avengers" story was pretty cool...but god DAMN would it require some funky special effects....
Clive Barkers - The Thief of Always would make a good dark fantasy kind've movie.

Azrael would be cool Batman spinoff.
A movie about Kain (the Spiderman clone)
Grifter (the ex Wildcat)
I would really like to see Morbius too.
