i'm looking to take my dvd collection to the next level and hoping to get some references to the sickest shit you've come across. granted this is newly occured to me so the only true pieces i own at the moment are zombie and suicide circle. so i was hoping some of u's could point me into a darker direction.

please something containing plot as well as gorefest.
the most surreal/bazzare as well

i thank you for taking the time to respond

El Topo is certainly... unique. Whether you would find it to be good or not really depends on how you feel about surrealism and very, very black humor. Anyway, you can order it here. (http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B000A2X6JU/qid=1143741169/sr=1-2/ref=sr_1_2/002-0716075-8616861?s=dvd&v=glance&n=130)
I believe this DVD is in PAL format though, so you may be out of luck if you're not in Europe, or don't have a region-free player and a converter of some sort. I saw it on VHS many moons ago.

The Cook, The Thief... is a great flick IMHO. Tim Roth plays a great bastard, as always.

As far as surreal/bizarre, try Little Otik, Marronnier and Uzumaki.

As far as gorefests WITH a plot, aside from things you've probably already seen like Demons or Dead/Alive...I don't know. Maybe Men Behind the Sun...

Check out Combat Shock, Jesus Christ Vampire Hunter, Videodrome, Brazil, Murder-Set-Pieces, Driller Killer, Story of Riki Oh, Bad Taste, and Cannibal Holocaust. How many of these surreal and or gory films we've mentioned do you already have?

'EL Topo' probably isn't an "actual" DVD (it's never been issued as Region 1). There are tons of rumors that it was supposed to be released in Feb, but it never happened. I have a copy on video if you want.

Uzamaki, now that's surreal and a bit fucked up as well, what more could you want.
Gore, well there is Re-animator of course, City of the Living Dead, Centipede horror (rubbish but funny and creepy if you don't like bugs), Ichi the Killer gorey and weird, Dead Alive(Brain Dead the Peter Jakson version) and The Untold Story.

tachii

everyone keeps telling me reanimator :(
i don't see it
was kinda funny tho

i'm very desencatized (and i can't spell for shit)
so what i'm really looking for is something that will have an affect on me rather than the casual viewer

Ok as mentioned in an earlier post, Guinea Pig Box set, especially part 2 Flowers of Flesh and blood. No plot to speak of but disturbing.

Much the same as guts of a beauty, not to bad but not to good either.

If you want something really sick but not really a film try Faces of Gore, thats always good for a laugh:D
