I had what you would call a very heated debate over in ReelHorror when I brought this little subject there.

Awesome site!

I am not trying to start anything here but I would like to hear your comments, below is a list of 100 horror movies my Horror Freak who had posted them on his website.

Below that is my personal favorite 100 horror movies and all the genres are mixed up, I am in the process now of making different genres lists and I could use all the help I can get recalling of the horror movies I have seen.
Some Genres here

Horror

Alien Invasion
Haunts
Gothic Horror
Horror Classics
Horror Comedies
Monsters
Nature gone Wild
Occult
Sci Fi Horror
Slashers and Psychos
Super natural thillers
Indie
Foreign

I will be editing my post later and giving you my top 100 overall this list is just a draft of mine and isn't the final work yet.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
This list isn't what I myself would say is the top 100 Aliens 16? no event horizon, no foriegn movies...I guess its the top 100 mainstream.

I do agree with some of the top 10

Top 100 Horror Movies (http://www.best-horror-movies.com/100-best-horror-movies.html)

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Ok we had a nice healthy debate on the previous thread about Horror Freak's top 100 movies now its your turn to lash at me

Now granted I picked these from the top of my head, its not a easy job listing these suckers because I could have listed 200.

Maybe sometime in the future I will make a list for different genres because frankly there is around 10 or so different ones out there.

This list only took me about a hour to type up so I wouldn't be suprised if I missed some classics.

And I know you guys/gals will be all over me for listing Franken Fish in the top 100 but I loved that movie for some reason and I think its way underrated.

You might not see a lot of your favorites maybe because I haven't seen them yet, I still have a lot of horror flicks still to watch yet.

Thanks I am new here, its hard to tell who are the trolls and who post here to have a discussion.
I guess I will find out sooner or later.

your post is wrong

Thanks Despare, Are you saying the movies I have on my list is wrong?

That could be a true statement everyone has a different view of horror movies and I am not saying mine is the holy grail.

Like they say beauty is in the eye of the beholder.

1) i think it's impossible to make a list this size.
i'll always be able to list my favorite all time horror, followed by 4 or 5 other favorites but I'm not about to sit down and itemize/prioritize a list of 100 anything.

2) re the genre question. I think that if there are any elements of the supernatural - it falls under the loose category of horror.
If it is crazed animals terrorizing people.. it falls under horror.
if it concerns a crazy slasher - it falls under horror.
If it is not so much horror but is filmed in the suspenseful style of a horror film, it will be classified as horror.

people who compile books on horror in film have an even broader range of acceptance than i described.

thats the same way i think about it as well.

i think by now people who have spent any time on the forum where actual movies are discussed - they'd realize by now that although this is Horror.com, it encompases and welcomes all forms of exploitation film, not just horror alone.

I'm sure if you asked 10,000 people what is or is not pure horror - especially in film .. you'd get 10,000 different answers.

no reason why a film can't fall under the banner of more than 1 banner is there?

I like Kate Beckinsale too, she's a decent actress and she's hot(which is what I assume you're getting at). But if I judged films on decent actresses and hot girls then I'd just watch porn all day.

...the fuck is that supposed to mean, pal? I'm 16 years old and some of my favorite films were made in the 30's. Just because someone has recent films on their "favorites" list doesn't mean that they're automatically young. It's not like if we were born recently we are shut off from older films. And it's not like older generations can't enjoy new films.

And look at you. Judging by your grammar, you're in 5th grade.

You know, if you kids spent less time categorising and making lists, you could be coming up with film ideas and new concepts of your own and giving some thought to developing them.

Then the next generation could be arguing over your films.

:)

I just want to thank everyone for there positive and negative comments, I actually appreciate both sides of the spectrum.

And my age shouldn't have anything to do with this thread, but I am up there in the age department if you must know, and if my list looks like somrthing a kid would put together, I guess I am just a kid a heart:D

The horror genre is a emotion its not a setting, like other genres and there are so many sub genres that can be viewed as horror that it can sometimes depend on who you ask.

Thanks.
