Anyone know of a really great horror novel?
I prefer books that were written and take place in modern day time.
grassy ass.
(Good example: The Lake, The risiing,City of the dead,The Infinite, etc etc)

Skeleton Crew- by Stephen King
Yeah yeah, I know. Another King novel. But, this one's a good collage of short stories. The Mist being the best.

Im not a fan od short stories, and for some reason..king doesnt do it for me. I havent given him many chances, but for some odd reason, i just dont dig him.
I usually go into the book store at borders and select any random modern day horror novel.
Many "uknown" writers. And i must, say - besides maybe one novel - I pretty much always enjoy the books selected with this method.

The Exorcist. Great book, great book. It will leave you with more unease than the movie. It, by Stephen King is good. The whole damn story is... the way it's put together.
You could try something older, something from the 1800's.
OR
You could check out some true ghost stories and horror, especially true stories of exorcisms.

I picked up a copy of this at a used book sale, very old, maybe first edition. I've been pondering on what to read next, but you've pushed me over. I'll be reading this for sure. I'll let you know what I think, I'm pretty psyched.

Anything by James Herbert mate. His books are fantastic and gore-packed.
