A flip side to Urges thread - what actors will you ABSOLUTELY avoid at all costs.

Mine are (currently)

Robin Williams
Jim Carey (although I was forced to watch Eternal Sunshine)
Ed Norton

Well, I'll pretty much watch anything. No matter what actor/actress is in it. But, I do hate some actors and wish they weren't paid. Here are some:

Breckin Meyer
Any of the Baldwins besides Alec
Janeane Garafolo

I really cant think of any. There are a bunch of actors that I dont like, but if they're in a movie that looks decent, I'll still watch it.

You're just like me. But, I decided to post a few actors and actresses I hate just to contribute to the thread.

As of now, Sarah Michelle Gellar, because she's a bitch and I hate her, except scream 2, cause she's only in it for a second.

Have you met her? I'll agree that she's not a great actress, but a bitch? Going overboard a bit?

her acting roles are bitchy a lot, that might have made me judge early... I dunno, i just don't like her... for whatever reason, she always LOOKS pissy.

robin williams is an almost - the closest thing that would apply ....
but i would never actually close the door to any movie just because of one actor i dont like in it.

I take it you didn't like The Usual Suspects?

I won't watch a movie starring whatever cookie-cutter Disney Channel teen singer chick is popular at the time, unless she's getting gang-banged

I actually haven't even seen The Usual Suspects yet. I'm ashamed to say it, but it's true. I honestly don't think actors/actresses that I hate could ruin the movie for me that badly.

julia roberts is another name i'd like to avoid .. but again - i'd hate to limit myself like that.

you want to see her when she was watchable ... see Mystic Pizza (if you can find it)

much like Kevin Kostner's roll in Silverado - it show's what these big names were capable of before they started to act like their big hollywood selves..

I also will watch pretty much any movie regardless of who's in it but I dislike...

Tom Hanks (now, his early stuff is great)
Whoppie
Micahel Moore
Paul Walker
Michelle Rodriguez
Cher
Barbera Streisand
The fat kid from Goodburger
Dustin Diamond
Pamela Anderson
David Arquette (although Never Die Alone wasn't as bad as I thought it would be)
Drew Barrymore
Elizabeth Berkley
Oprah
Tom Green

I'm sure I could think of more.

I was going to include rappers, but Mos Def is really good, and the guy in Crash (Ludacris?) was, too.

But, yes, there's usually an exception to the "this actor sucks hard" rule, but for the life of me I can't think of one for the "teen Disney singer chick turned horrible actress turned anorexic heroin addict" one

I know, a lot of people do. Something about him that I can't really explain just bugs the hell out of me. Also, I don't really like comedies, and I don't think he's ever been in a serious role, so that doesn't help. Oh wait... there was Permanent Midnight. What do ya know, this "one exception" rule really is true.

And I can't believe I forgot about Adam Sandler.

Please explain that one...Personally, I think Depp does some of his best work with Burton. Ed Wood, in my opinion, is the best movie either of them have ever been involved in.

Me, Id even give something like that a chance if the opportunity was there. I mean, I would go buy it or anything, but if my friends wanted to watch it I wouldnt complain. Case in point, I watched Sleepover with one of my friends awhile back...pretty bad movie, but amazingly enough it had some mildly amusing moments.

One guy that's quickly making his way onto my list is Jon "One Trick Pony" Heder. Anyone seen the trailers for The Benchwarmers? It might as well say "Starring Rob Schneider, David Spade, and Napolean Dynomite as himself". Ive only seen him in ND, but every trailer I see shows him playing the same character...which is a VERY annoying character at that.

A great actress in shitty movies is hardly something to aspire to...she just bugs the hell out of me. Not to mention she kind of looks like a troll.

No real need to explain, reverse everything you just said and that about sums it up.

Tim Burton is a hack as far as I'm concerned and I find his movies to be just...terrible.

As far as Depp goes, it's kind of bittersweet to see him act in what I feel are terrible movies, no matter how well acted. 'Tis why I won't watch them anymore.

^^ Agreed What about WIll ferrell and Jim Carrey?

I say if they have the talent, go for it. Iwould guarentee that if any producer waved a 17 million dollar check at any of us to act, we would take it, and if anyone tries to say they wouldn't sell out, or is materialistic. I am calling B.S.

but my list is anything with
Steven segal
Denzel Washington.
Brain Bozworth
most Jonny Depp
Mr Bean
rob schieder
chris rock

there arnt any actors that could compleatly make me avoid a film like the plage. but when i see a trailer for a film that i know i would hate and see that it has a celeb in it that i hate, puts a smile on my face, cause i know now it wont be long untill i see them on " where are they now"( i it was still aired).

and lohan will be there in a few yeas, i give 5 more good years then she'll turn white trash and disappear like britney spears.

I remember one case where I said after The Beach I wouldn't watch DiCaprio again but thankfully I can't resist a good looking movie no matter who stars and I gave Catch Me if You Can a chance. I just can't avoid movies because of actors, even if I try. I'll probably even rent Running Scared because it's been recomended by a few friends but I really don't like the fact that it stars Paul Walker heh.

Jack Black !

man I love school of rock ...

and he was the best thing in infidelity too.

i understand people feeling that he was miscast in King Kong but there was so much else going on i loved in that film that i didnt have time to be bothered by it

i think he's pretty funny .. i understand exactly where his style of humor is coming from ..

He was GREAT playing a supporting character in High Fidelity and Saving Silverman. Really seems to be his role. I did like the Tenacious D HBO stuff though and the new Tenacious D movie could be a riot. Dio is in it...

I started to respect Tom Cruise as an actor after Rain Man, but in recent years his "killer smile" has reached the permanent rictus mark and behaviour offscreen is vomit inducing.

Funny when a Channel 4 spoof interviewer squirted water in his dial via a fake microphone - "...Why did you do that?", he spluttered, "...Why would you do that!?"
