This wasn't in sydney.. It actually happened in Queensland. Heard about it a few days ago and they were thinking about evacuting then. Not too sure on deaths, all I know is that it is a state of emergency and pretty freakin bad..

Heres a report from our neck of the woods..

@Spallalala - Well at least it sounds like no one was killed, that's amazing. By the way, I love your avatar, been meaning to mention that.

@Marroe - Not to repeat myself but I am glad you survived your night of storms last week.

Unfortunatley we seem to be in a cycle where the weather is changing and getting worse world wide. I don't think it's really a "Global Warming" thing that we mere humans did, (although I'm sure we probably contributed some) I think it's more of a cyclical thing that our planet goes through. I won't go into what Christians believe is happening, but who knows, maybe that's it too. Enough rambling from me this morning. Hope y'all have a good day!

The climate is fucked. Storms are only going to get bigger and stronger as the years go by. Its just something that will have to be coped with, somehow.

Actualy storms just weren't recorded before the way they are now and people are EVERYWHERE. Did you know Katrina wasn't even one of the top 10 strongest hurricanes? We just have better media coverage thats all. 40 years ago nobody would've know about a mudslide in Africa unless they were IN Africa.

Thats all true.

The thing is we are coming into a cycle of strong weather patterns and combined with global-warming/climate change its going to produce seriously strong storms over the next thirty to fifty years (so the boffins in their white coats say anyhow).

This is being splattered all over the t.v,
here in NZ.
Must be bloody horrific for those who are right in the middle of it.
Thankful everyone is ok though.

Personally, I kinda like adverse weather. Granted I haven't had to deal with EXTREME adverse weather... but hey, I wouldn't mind a few very large snow storms around here. (especially since I have a truck that can handle it)

I have been in a cyclone. I was pretty young so I dont really remember it. Other then that there was a 8 min storm here a few years back here. Thought it was a cloud rushing at us..Turned out it was a shitloada rain. High winds. Floods, trees on roofs, roofs half way down the road. Nothing bad happened to us. Was kinda fun heading out after and cleaning up trees from the road.

Its a fucked situation to be in. Especially when you end up losing everything.

I wouldn't mind getting a lil bit more rain here tho.
