I came back from the mall not too long ago. i bought Day of the Dead for $16.99. think thats a good deal? i found the 'Dawn' remake at Suncoast for $12.99, but then i saw it at FYE for $8.99. does that seem alittle strange? then i spotted extreme price differences and wondered "what seems wrong here?" i just dont like the way consumerism has eaten into our souls. but anyways who else has seen this?

Are you asking who's seen Day of the Dead? I think it's safe to say that over 90% of the forum as seen it, it's a classic! One of my favourites horror films of all time, and hands down my favourite of the Dead series.

I am a big fan of this movie too. I didn't like it when it first came out--I enjoyed it but thought it was dramatically clunky, way too gory and way too foulmouthed. I think those flawed qualities are still there, but as the years have gone on, I have come to appreciate the film more and more. All in all it's a pretty solid movie and probably one of the best-made of all zombie flicks.

Agreed 100% on that point man. I love the film, but that certainly detracts from it.

i thought the language was actually fairly accurate ... i hear worse than that in a business environment..
trust me .. a group of knuckle dragging half-wits underground - and in those circumstances .... they arent going to speak like choirboys at sunday service.

I too love this movie! The most underrated of the Dead series. I actually bought my copy for $3.00.

You havent seen it?

Lets just say that something "Fuck the fucking fuckers" wouldnt seem out of place, and was probably actually used in the film.

All that matters is that you have it in your collection filmmaker.

Easily my favorite of the series and probably my favorite zombie movie.

Although more recently Shaun of the Dead kind of steals that title.

Everyone seems to love shaun of the dead, as do I. But, I don't think its as big of a deal as everyone says. I think best zombie movie is the Dawn remake, but, thats just me and my wierd taste

My problem with that movie is it doesn't carry any of the focus from the original. There was no sense of isolation, no sense of dread, no character development beyond some hackneyed moments meant to give them some sort of "depth". And also the moments of celebration and attempts at comedy were empty and meaningless, there was no true connection with what was going on.

As a zombie movie it's pretty f#@$ing cool, it needed to be released under a different title though. I understand it was more of a tribute to the original but I think they should have done it differently. As its own movie it's a decent action/zombie popcorn movie but as a tribute to Dawn of the Dead it falls flat on its face. Just my opinion.

I didn't like it at all.

Anyway, best Zombie movie goes to one of three:

-Dawn of the Dead ('78)

-Zombi 2

-Re-Animator

I heartily agree. Yes it is funny and there are loads of "In" jokes for sados like me to snigger at, but it will not have the longevity of films like Dawn of the Dead. Put it this way, I can't see in 20 years time loads of people still talking about it and there being so many different releases that you don't know which one to get.
By the way the Dutch release of the original Dawn is one of the best versions you can get. It has the 140 minute Romero version and the "European" Argento release, and Document of the Dead. What more could you want?? It's by "Futurefilm" if anyone's interested.
