I'm very depressed today because I just found it that one of my really good friends Joe is moving to North Carolina tonight (I live in Pennsylvania). Now, I knew about his "moving to NC" for awhile, but was told it probably wasn't going to happen for about another month or so. But, I found out in third block today, that today was his final day. I mean, I had no preparation or anything. It just came upon me like a hippie at a block party. Now, I may come across you guys as if I'm happy (since I'm posting like I usually do), but this is just my way of letting it go. I don't like to sit back and be depressed. I try to lighten myself up. And there's nowhere better to go than to Horror.com.

Being depressed isn't easy. You just have to fight it, you know? I'm glad that HDC makes you happy. That's a good start. You gotta know what else makes you happy and grab on to that. I don't want to sound like a self help mannual, but I do know a thing or two about depression.
I'm sorry about your friend. I live in NC myself, it's an okay place to visit. We have a pretty good theme park if you're into that sorta thing. The trip from PA is not that long. Summertime, out of school, the days are long... you can visit your friend, and may make some new friends from him.
When there's a negative, there's always, in turn, a positive.
Keep your chin up, mate.

Thanks for the support guys! I'm hoping I'll be able to see him in the summertime. That'd be great.
@Ravage- Well, he doesn't know where in NC he's going to live, so that's out of the question for now (since he doesn't have my number). Thanks anyway! You're a great friend!
@Haunted- I have dealt with depression before, and I shall deal with it again. I like your suggestions, and will definitlely be using them tonight. Thanks!
Thanks again guys!

Might I offer advice...
If he's a really good friend, this should be not THAT big a thing. Modern technology has given us telephones, e-mail, webcams... you two can still stay close no matter where he is.
Losing a good friend is always tough, but you two can still keep in touch. Like Haunted said, you can always visit him too.

I'm always here too, so this'll work out. Thanks!
@IA- You bring out some very positive points in which I like. The only thing is Guitar class is now going to suck! But, like you said, we'll definitely be keeping in touch. Thanks! BTW- I guess this is an "away from home Dear IA" question, huh?

Thanks for the support guys! I actually have good news. I was talking to his sister (becuase she works down at BlockBuster), and they actually have a change of plans. They're leaving in a couple of days, so Joe will be staying for a little while more. Now I'm all cheered up! *Uwe Boll walks into the room* Damnit, and my day was just starting to get better!

it is hard - i've moved an insane number of times and usually all over the place (TX, MO, PA, NY and overseas for the odd year here and there). . . the one thing I'll say is that you can never tell how friendships change. . . some of my absolute best friends have totally lost contact with me (including my first real friend - from 2nd grade - who so totally snubbed me that i found out later he moved to Maine and drove RIGHT THROUGH the town where i currently live and even STAYED THE NIGHT HERE without contacting me). . . that said, there are also friends I haven't physically 'seen' in years but i still talk to them on a regular basis. . . its hard, but its life.

Sadly , yes I can relate..
but it just goes to show that ..they weren't really friends at all.
When my 1st husband left me for my bestfriend..(ironic)..
all of our other closest, nearest and dearest pals..followed suit..
Not one tried to contact me to see how i was getting on...in fact they carried on ..as if i never even existed.
That is why to this very day...after all them years, I have never , ever befriended another female in R/L
I now have mates who do 8 hour road trips just to deliver my birthday presents..
True mates who stand by my side , whether em right or wrong..or stick up for me through thick or thin. :D

Wait a minute, when did you live in PA? That's where I live.
