I absolutely agree with you! One of my favorite movies. Love Alice Cooper's part-I thought he did very well with just facial expressions.

i liked it - with the exception of the wise cracking comedy relief asian guy - he was far better at it in Big Trouble in Little China but it didnt work in Prince of Darkness.
other than that i've always enjoyed the flick ..
some of Land of the Dead reminds me of this film .

Classic is a bit too strong of a word for me. I thought it was ok but not a classic.

It's a very entertaining Carpenter flick, one of his "Apocalypse Trilogy" pieces the other two being "In the Mouth of Madness" and "The Thing".Why he grouped these three is anyone's guess.

Because they each show a different way that the world could end. I also think it sheds some light on his open ended ending to The Thing....

That does make sense, thanks for clearing that up.I only found out about "the trilogy" six or seven mouths ago while watching commentary on The Thing.

To be honest, this is one of few John Carpenter films I havent seen. Plan to get it in the near future however...
IMO this is a really smart idea (esp. the radio signals back in time) but, in the end, not very well-executed. . . there are lots of rough edges, weird performances, etc.
that said - i loved some of the effects (esp. the hoof and the mirror - that gave me chills).

This film is extremely underrated. I caught it on TV without ever hearing about it and it was really amazing
