I don't think this has ever been done before! In honor of spring, meaning six flags opens soon <i'm a six flags fanatic>, what's everyones favorite thrill rides? I don't know about you guys, but mine are:

Tower of Terror at WDW mgm studios, which has got to be the coolest ride ever, because, its the twilight zone!

Acrophobia at Six Flags over Georgia... (sorry the pic is so big)

spiderman definently.

I still argue with people about how Batman: the ride is possibly the best coaster ever.

Superman at Six Flags is pretty intense as well.

Ill watch any movie you throw at me, but Im a wimp when it comes to this stuff. Id did quite a few at Disney when I was there a few years back, but Disney rides dont exactly compare to stuff like The Hulk. My favourite there was hands down Tower of Terror, followed by Splash Mountain.

This is so goddamned funny because in my Earth Science class we're doing a project on Roller Coasters. It has to do with speed, acceleration, velocity, etc. Anyway, I love roller coasters, but I've only loved them for a short period of time. When I was younger, I was scared shitless of them! Now, I love them! I've only been on the ones at HersheyPark, and my favorite would be The Great Bear. The dangling feeling excited and scared me. I could just see me somehow slip out of my seat and fall off. That thought scares the hell out of me, but it could happen!

cedar point... i didn't care much for it. I loved millenium force, top thrill dragster, and raptor, but everything else has been done.

I love all the stuff at disneyworld, especially mission space and (crap, i forgot the name) the car themed ride, where... oh.. Test Track. and Space mountain! Damn now i'm in summer mode, i'm going to be all over my friends about going to six flags now.

Ha! YJ you haven't felt fear on an inverted coaster like Great Bear until you ride Batman: the ride. It's SO close to the ground and parts of the track it feels like you're about to kick it, and the first drop is such a sharp curve its truly frightening.

I love Six Flags Over Georgia! I can't wait to go this summer. My favorite thrill rides would either be Acrophobia or Superman: The Ultimate Flight(both at Six Flags Over Georgia). I also liked the Hulk at Island of Adventures.

That Hulk thing looks pretty sweet.

I'm weird, my favorite is the Rush Steet Flyer(it may be called something else now) at Six Flags St. Louis. I like the tummy drop. Haven't been there in years though. Too hot, stinky, and crowded.

I really like Cedar Point. The Mantis is cool, but my favorite is still the good old standby The Magnum. I got to sit in the front seat at night when all the lights are on; that completely rocked!

When I was at Disney World one year, they had a kick-ass Alien ride, but I guess it wasn't permanent. Oh yeah, and Mr. Toad's Wild Ride!

They turned that into a kids attraction. Same idea....only they toned it down with "Stitch" as the alien.

The first time i went on it [ when it was "Alien Encounter" ] i was quite surprised that Disney would have a "adult only" attraction....especially in "The Magic Kingdom" right across from "Buzz Lightyear".
Well its kid-friendly now fer sure.

I get sick on these rides. I'm a wimp, I know. :(

One that I do remember fondly was the Chaos coaster at Opryland. I grew up in Nashville, so going to Opryland was like a weekly thing almost. This coaster was indoors and had really cool special effects. Not very fast though. Opryland is long gone now.

Oh, but if Opryland hadn't closed, we wouldn't have the wonderful Opry Mills Mall. I mean, since Nashville only has ten malls as it is, we would really be missing out on a lot there.

The only frightening ride at disneyworld is Mission: space. you spin WAYY too fast, and its very intense. I just remember having the "navigator" job, and when the ship stopped right at the edge of the cliff, the voice was like, don't make any movement!. so i started pushing all the buttons and shaking the cart and stuff..:D typical me.

But, acrophobia at six flags, is the, scariest ride, on the planet. Not the actual drop, which is amazing and the biggest rush you could EVER imagine, but the rising tension and suspense of being lifted, legs hanging down, 200+ feet straight up, and then having the evil ride people say stuff like, "were dropping you in 10! 9! 8! DROP.....bastards

Define "thrill ride."

filmmaker2
03-02-2006, 09:14 AM
When I hear the term "thrill ride," I think of a ride that is slightly or seriously unpleasant, fast, seemingly perilous, and possibly nausea-inducing. A roller coaster, flume ride, or big drop thingie.

That freakin "Twilight Zone Tower of Terror," I almost think it's sick to have something like that, I know a lot of people like it, but jeez! I did it once, but gee willikers. Uhhhhhhh...too much for me.

I cannot do most roller coasters, can't or won't, whichever you prefer, but I will do a flume ride generally speaking. The worst one I know is "Splash Mountain" at Disneyland, which has a fairly evil drop that they let you look down for a couple of seconds before they let you go. Eeeeek, it's creepy and threatening.

Have only been on a rollercoast once..that was enough for me..i was sick as hell afterwards..
I never screamed..i was too busy crying....'get me the fuck off here'

I closed my eyes ..when we stopped..i opened them again and we were hanging upside down..then threw up on some poor dude ..who was looking up at us from the ground.
My kids were like ..weeeeeeeeeeeeeee..lets go again mum..
em like ..not in this bloody lifetime..thats for sure.

filmmaker2
03-02-2006, 10:14 AM
Yeah. Most roller coasters, I will look at them and see the people whizzing around screaming, and I think, "Well, there's just no way. No freaking way. Nope! Let's not and say we did."

In a way, I think that the people who design these things to be as messed up as possible, they are twisted people. However, the exact same thing could also, I believe, be said about people who are really good at designing horror films. Perhaps it is a matter of perspective. Certainly many people like roller coasters. I don't mind a little one. It's those gigantic suckers, you know the type.

Haunted

Well, I hate roller-coasters. Anything that makes my heart beat that fast causes an instant panic attack. Poor paranoid pussy me. However, I have done LSD on numerous occasions and that should constitute as a thrill ride. Trust me on this one.

When I first became a Witch, I was like, sod being different, I just want to ride on a broom. That would be a thrill ride: 1. You're fucking flying on a broom. 2. Everyone can look up your skirt.

Sim Theme Park! Yeah, I have that. It's cool. You get to build multiple theme parks, different ones, on your very own Theme Park Planet. I love that stuff. You can ride your own rides...great. Makes me feel like putting it in now!

I like those little computerized people that walk around the park...they eat, they go to the bathroom...if they eat too much, they throw up, even. And you have to make sure janitors are on hand to clean up after everyone. Yeahhhh, that's a neat little game.

Roller Coaster Tycoon is better, in my opinion. I have both, and the controls on STP are awful. RCT's contrls arent that much better, but it's an inprovement.

I've yet to try the sequels to RCT, but Id like to.
