Don't mince words, if it's a problem then it's annoying but I can see where your coming from. Boobs don't really build up to gore well do they? It wasn't what I expected from the first half of the movie either but I looked at it in a different way; I thought the downward spiral of events made it more exciting because it was more traumatic for the people involved. I know quite a few people who enjoyed the movie but said they would've skipped the first hour which seems to be an opinion fairly close to yours.

Both are worth watchig IMO...Last Man on Earth is a classic, one of the best horror Ive ever seen, just check the sig for proof. As for Cursed, it isnt great by any means, it's a very flawed film. But it does have a few decent moments that make it worth renting.
